45 years ago my Grandma was promised a trip to her number one bucket list destination, Alaska. But unfortunately that trip never happed. Seven years ago, I devised a plan to take her there. In this video my Grandma, Mom, and myself travel to Alaska for the ultimate bucket list trip. When we were there, Grandma shared the secret to living a meaningful and wonderful life.

I lived at one time close to NYC and would go in occationally. What I noticed was no one smiled in NYC. They would just walk on the side rushing to work or where ever they were going with a blank face in their own thoughts. So one day walking around NYC I picked people out of a crowd and as they walked towards me I would steer at them and just SMILE. At first they would not catch on then they too would smile back and as the walked by they would laugh & smile. I know it was just a little way to get people to not just be a walking robot. I know in a little way that day I brightened their day out walking. Do little kind acts to brighten someones day. YES Everyone is suffering. Do kind acts towards strangers, family, friends, neighbors. You dont have to spend money. Just a smile will help someone. This is old fashion kindness which equates to more kind people in the world while lifting up someone spirit. You never know who needs a sprite lifting up.

I was wondering the same. She brings all the feels out and I will only watch her in the wee hours of the morning when I am alone lol. Takes me the rest of the week to process the stuff that comes to the surface! But I am beyond grateful cause no therapy is as good.

"Smile at everyone" brought tears running down my face! I follow you because you are living a dream of mine that I will most likely never live to experience! I'm less than a year away from 70, and spent my whole working career serving others as an EMT and firefighter. I look back and realize that I never took time to discover who I was/am. Stay true to yourself and your family because time stands still for no one! Don't look for love, and love will find you!

My goodness Alyssa, so much to love about this video. First, your grandma is simply adorable. And how awesome that you were able to give her this gift. And to have your mom there too, 3 generations, just wonderful. And it was an interesting piece of advice that your grandma gave about smiling at people because you never know what they're going through. I actually started doing that about a year or so ago when passing people on the street in NYC where I live, and you'd be surprised how many people smile back. It takes no effort at all and it's a wonderful feeling actually. I really enjoyed this one Alyssa. Thank you for sharing such a special moment in your life with your family.

"The older you are, the quicker it goes." So very true. I'm almost 60. The past 20 years have felt like 8 yrs. Such a SWEET video. Made me cry pretty hard. Alaska is awesome. I'd love to go back and see the grizzly bears catching salmon.

When I was stationed at Elmendorf, in the early 80s, I fell in love with the state. I still feel like I left a large part of me behind. I would give anything to go back. I'm so happy that you were able to experience what I remember. Listen to grandma, she's right. ❤✌

Give Grandma a hug from me the next time you see her and tell her I understand exactly what she means. My wife passed a few years ago at only 47 and it's been the hardest thing I've ever had to endure, but I would do it again with her in a heartbeat. I hope you find your one true love Alyssa, it makes life the grandest of journeys.

What an awesome memory you'll have forever of your grandmother, this video serves as a forever keepsake. My grandmother has long passed, I wish I had a video of us making fresh pasta and cooking dinner together. As we get older (I'm old) the years go by swiftly, and I find it isn't the money we've made or the things we have that are important....it is the relationships, the experiences and the time spent with family. I spent far too many years enveloped with my business, now that I've decided to retire I see the world differently and don't waste my time with negativity,

I’m laying here crying. This is such a wonderful video. My Grandma was my savor. She helped raise me. She was very religious. Her Catholic faith was everything to her. I lost her too early to Alzheimer’s. ❤️💔

I just watched this in tears! Your grandma reminds me of my mother so much. Her and I went on a trip to Alaska quite a while ago and visited many of the same places. It was her dream come true. We always wanted to go back but she passed away on October 15, 2023 with no warning. I’m so happy to have the reminder of our trip together. Thank you for sharing your Grandma and trip with us. Thank you ( just what i needed) Miss my grandmother dearly ( 103 years when she passed) WE shared the same birthday all those years (DEC 17th) ...she alway said I was her Christmas Gift ( A blessing indeed) and now with my MOMs passing ....watching this brought tears of contentness....grateful for the time spent with 2 beautiful women who were my biggest cheerleaders.....Kudos!! I like many others shed a few tears with this one. Your Grandma is a super fine and beautiful young lady (I can say that because I am 84). Your mother also looks very young and beautiful and the three of you look so much alike. The views in this video sure give justice to the beauty of Alaska. It makes me feel good to know that the three of you had such a wonderful trip. It was so good of you share it with us. We all felt that you were a great young lady that had just hit a few bumps in the road and now we know that you are that nice lady and why you ended up there.

no one is quite like a grandma Mine was the best was 96 , she raised me from a baby as my Mum Had to work , as divorced in the 50s Not tomany divorces then , so had two Mums I will never forget her adored her i called her Nanny , I owe her so much lots of love Merilyn ,xx glad you made memories xx

Enjoy that aged fire that still burns in your grandma. My mother has only a few years on your grandma, but, in 2019 she wa diagnosed with dementia. It's been brutally slow and I see how lucky, someone like you is to be able to still ask questions. Savor every moment you still have her!
