I shall always be thankful we have Miriam with us... And I shall ever be thankful to NHS as well, mainly for the good example of a highly professionalism and human being as Dr Jacqueline Joyce, in Petersfield, at The Swan surgery... I shall never forget her. She saved my life, without even knowing that, in a moment when I was all alone, by my self going through a so intensely horrible and rough situation, due to a disgusting like rubbish manager at work in Liss. Nurses, and doctors and all the other personnel at Petersfield hospital as well, and people from Queen Alexandra hospital at Portsmouth. Good manners, kindness and truly supportive and helpful... I Cant find ways or words to show all my appreciation.

It's important to note Aisling said she didn't have insurance that applied in America. The fee for (adult, I assume) foreigners' admission to the NHS is much more than she paid for the service she obtained in America, although once you're in the NHS I assume it's a pretty good deal. I saw a UKposts video in which an American injured, though not badly, in Montreal was driven by a friend back to the US for assessment and care because her insurance applied in the US but not in Canada. Just sayin'.

Actually it costs £288 (about $400) for an outpatient breast appointment for non-uk residents on the NHS, however emergency room treatment is free to all regardless of where you come from! As for it being a good deal if you're in the NHS, it's literally free whether you need a scan or admission to ICU. The only thing you have to pay for is your take home medications (even then it's a flat rate of £9 per item and free for over 65s and children). The NHS really is amazing and I'm proud to work in it even if things are tough at the moment!

@@missarya1 One UKpostsr, Alanna from "Adventures and Naps," reported she was required to pay 1000 pounds (sorry, no pound currency symbol on my keyboard) to gain access to the NHS. She's an immigrant from Canada to the UK. I guess you're saying women who are not participants in the NHS (non-immigrant foreigners exclusively?) can buy outpatient breast scans and analyses of those scans for 288 pounds. Perhaps a medical assessment of a troubling result is included. Not a bad deal.

Don't think that applies to Irish people in the UK. Irish people who are settled or living in the UK are entitled to free NHS treatment. IDK where Ashling is living atm but I definitely know that much. People who come to Ireland can specifically use the Irish healthcare system for free or almost free due to an arrangement between the UK and Ireland. Just like Ireland and the UK have a common travel area separate from the EU, we have other 'shared' things as well.

@harryp7346 2 роки тому
@@midlander8186 Just reading your comments, it's interesting to note the language/tone that you are using. The way you are describing fees and gaining access seems very at odds with how the NHS works. To be fair, although I'm British, I haven't lived in the UK for a few years - there might have been slight changes, but I don't think anything significant. As I understand it, if you are resident in the UK, you are entitled to use the NHS. If you are not resident (e.g. a tourist or former resident, like me), then you are not entitled to use it for free - but I don't think you'd be denied "access", instead, you (or your insurer) would face a bill. And, to clarify, I don't think citizenship is relevant, but rather it's based on residency (hence why for me, as a UK citizen but not a UK resident, I am not entitled to use the NHS for free).
