Can you explain more? I once went to a crossfit gym that took a picture of the whiteboard after every class, they said they send it to India, it's cheaper, or something, to bill everyone in the class and track their progress. Always struck me as odd.

Yea they overhyped it. Their manual verification rate was 70% meaning it worked only 30% of the time. They were expecting a manual verification of 0.5%.

The other reason to end just walk is that the camera-based tech is prone to missing or mis-identify what it sees. People have faced accusations of theft. I prefer the carts. At least your scan of each item can be matched by a receipt.
