Yes you could get your own chickens to get your own eggs, have a cow to get your own milk, grow and cut your own vegetables, but how much time are you gonna be spending (read: wasting) on that? But, you also have to look at it this way a huge majority of the Amish have lived and worked on a farm from the time they were born, they don’t realize people that are English as they like to call us that not everyone lives on a farm and that a lot of us hold jobs and, they don’t have the time on there hands to do all these things that people in the Amish world can take the time to do at there leisure. Well the Amish community is low-hey kind of like a cult, you aren’t allowed to talk to anyone outside of the community until 18 where you get to go “wild” and then see if you want to return to the Amish or leave and if you leave, you have to be shunned by your entire family and the rest of the community.
