Witch is good (or bad depending what side your in) as it will function same as apple find my network where it's default enabled at sign in with iCloud what I am Interested in will Google use imprecise finding like Samsung does for non UWB tracking as non of the Google trackers have UWB (samsung uses Bluetooth power level meter bar so you can roughly work out if your closer or further away once within 50-30 meters) guess I find out at the end of may samsung seems to be opt out by default of the Samsung find my network (it pops up after 12hours to 2 days asking to enable it on a new configured phone) so even if there is a Samsung phone nearby high chance the popup was dismissed witch keeps the offline finding Network on that phone disabled witch is unfortunate as this may limit the network to technically inclined users (less then 2-3%) who would have gone out of there way to enable it because other 90% won't even read it they just dismiss it (the offline enable popup box only shows once after that you have to open the settings > security > lost device protection > enable offline find switch).

@@hpgramanithey are way too thin to do that, it should have two metal connection so that you can charge the battery up or do want pebble card does and have the induction loop so you can charge it using one of the QI wireless chargers Other could have just used a 3 pin to charge with magnet on the plug

Same here. I have two Tiles for tracking my two checked bags when I carry oversized luggage on long range buses, train or flights. I would love google to make their own and would buy 4 of these in an instant if that was the case.

I like Peeblebee I just wish their trackers had UWB support. Hopefully Samsung rolls out an update to support the find my device network in the future. Google releasing a first party tracker would be cool too

To be fair, samsung has been more cooperative lately. Galaxy watches now use wear os, galaxy phones now use Google messages, they use Gemini for ai feature. They would gain more customers if they used the android find my network given samsung is know brand compared to the coming third party apps.

The current models from Chipolo and Pebblebee don't have that. Really hoping future tags from eufy, Jio, Motorola, (and maybe Google? There have been rumors for years!) add UWB.

It uses same imprecise finding that Samsung uses (uses Bluetooth power signal level to tell you if your closer or further away) Samsung still has advantages over apple and Google as it has 7 day history of where the smarttag has been witch is usefully for finding tag if it was stolen (as it could be hours after when you noticed it missing) so you can see where it has been (apple and Google only shows you it's last reported location so you have to be looking at the map every 5-15 minutes to see if it moves) Airtag+smarttag 2+Pebblebee tag gives you good coverage to find your stuff if your not an iPhone user then I guess you could skip on airtag, but if you own samsung phone you have access to Samsung and Google find my offline network on one device (so have 7 day history + previously reported location)

I wish Android/Apple would make it so the find feature uses phones across both platforms. Clearly they can do this if you can see any unit not associated with your devices.

The Pixel 8 Pro has UWB, so does the Pixel Tablet iirc. But these trackers don't. Maybe when Google releases its own built tracker, it'll have UWB. Or maybe the later trackers coming at the end of the year from Jio, Motorola, or eufy will.

Also hope that google find my device app will support the uwb functionality, if not then no company will be able to feature that...also i thought that the unknown tracker thing will mean that all phones (apple or google) will trigger the updating of tracker location, but it seems that it will only notify the phone about a tracker nearby... that's a shame

@@SzeptyTechniki A bit difficult if it's like a fob for your keys or something small like a wallet... Maybe it might work for an expensive handbag that has, like, a secret pocket that is virtually undetectable unless you take apart the bag.

No UWB on any of these models yet, we asked. I'm holding out hope that Google's own tracker, if it's ever released, will have it. Or maybe the upcoming trackers from eufy, Jio, or Motorola.

As I mentioned in the video, those only work with Samsung phones and only use Samsung phones as the backbone of the network. They are not ecosystem-wide like AirTags and Find My tags are for iOS (and iPadOS, macOS). These new tags are the equivalent of AirTags on all of Android. Granted, when I tested the SmartTag2, it worked really well, but the fact that I couldn't access its location from my Pixel or Nothing phone is very limiting.

I want this to put on my ebike in case it gets stolen, and the fact it would alert the thief that one is on my bike negates getting one.. This is disappointing.

The only problem I have with these is that I work with a group of people at my work and 1 guy has an airtag in his wallet so whenever we move from work site to shop or shop to different work site my phone thinks theres a tracker with me

Airtags don't have built-in GPS. They use nearby phones' GPS to know where they are.

As I mentioned in the video, Google already added unknown tracker alerts for Airtags (and Apple Find My trackers in general) to Android a few months ago. So no, Airtags can't be used for tracking people anymore.

@@maxix545 checking for unknown trackers is built directly into Google play services which is apart of every android phone. No app needed. So the thief in question would still get the tracker alert notification in theory
