Actually, it's a brilliant idea to only lock some of the door locks when you have that many. They won't know which ones are locked & which are open. They'll be opening some of them but locking the ones already open. Genius!! 😊

@@pegatheetoo1437 That is an idea if you have MANY locks. It won’t take long to check 3. That’s just probability. There is nothing fun or brilliant about potentially putting yourself in danger telling people you don’t use all of your locks, especially if you showed them all of the locks you have. It’s a legitimate safety issue that could have dire consequences. PLEASE take care of yourself. ☮️ 💜

When I lived in a paper-thin wall apartment (or just noisy), I bought some cheap duvets/quilts at a thrift shop and hung them on my walls- it's instant insulation and sound squelcher. you can hang pictures and do whatever you normally do and the colors are like having an instant paint job without all the mess.

With duvets/bedding for Japan there could be less, limited storage if a person moves and no longer has that need. Do charities there accept duvets/bedding, some countries don't due to hygiene... may then end up disposing of if can't give to someone. I believe felt curtains are quite sound insulating or their are specific products for that purpose which could be resold after. Good hack though if you already have plentiful duvets.

Hi, maybe someone already wrote this, but just in case, the buttons you didn't knew about in the toilet are for pressure and movement, the two closest to where you seat are mae and ushiro ( front and back ) to move the nozzle to where to want it, and the other two buttons up are for the water pressure yowai and tsuyoi ( weak n strong ) hope it helps, for me I find that the position is always quite back, so in my toilets we had set them a bit to the front, it's quite useful 😊

I can't imagine living somewhere where locking doors is not a priority! The mindset alone is different and says a lot about Japan and its safety vs America.. The biggest con for me: I would not be comfortable being able to hear my neighbors all the time. As you noted it s a con but would be a deal breaker for me as it is here in America. Thanks for the video as it is very interesting to see the different cultures and lifestyles. And you did a great job sharing that. Thanks for the video!

I thought about what you said and I never thought about it in the US when I was living there, but I also think noisy neighbors would be a deal breaker for me as well if I ever went back. In general my neighbors in japan would talk at a normal level but the walls are thin so it really can’t be helped, whereas in the US I felt the walls in my apartments were much thicker. I think if my neighbors can be heard through those thick walls, something is definitely not right, and that’s when it becomes truly annoying 😂 Thank you for watching and leaving this comment. As a Gamer, a small cozy space is pretty ideal for me as Japan embodies that minimal design for a lot of the apartments & homes I see you & others stay in. So long as I can use a toilet, shower & bathe, have a fridge & pantry space for food, & somewhere to sleep & game, that's all my needs met. And you don't generally have the insane prices on housing like the US does, I don't think Japan has rent control, but to my knowledge it's not as much of a zero sum game with real estate & housing.

I feel that it's a waste you've never use the outdoor rack to dry your clothes! Nothing beats freshly laundered laundry baked under the sun!
@kimberdesu140
@kimberdesu140 7 місяців тому
I wonder, where are you from? I somewhat agree with what you said. My dad and step mom would dry clothes in the sun, under the arizona heat and that would definitely bake my clothes. I liked the smell. But i tried doing that in Japan and I just don’t get the same results. The air is humid and it takes longer to dry the clothes. I just chose the shower for drying for convenience 🤷‍♀️

I don't know about other countries, but Japan is a really humidy, so if a bath dehumidifier is not included, it is better not to have a shelf in the shower room. otherwise around of the shelves will quickly become covered in mold.

Upon moving to Japan it was my first time to have a space all to myself. I had always shared with a room mate and had to make mutual design choice. When I found out I’d be living in my own I was so excited I started planning out how I would decorate my room and I’m happy to say it fit exactly what I had imagined. I didn’t know that. Japan is the only place I’ve ever lived abroad. Since I grew up in the US we’ve only ever had houses with a disposal. It’s crazy to me seeing the difference. I think having the net is better than the disposal though. Growing up the disposal would break or things would accidental get stuck and it’s a whole mess. Having a net is much more simple I think. I have limited knowledge about this since I’ve only ever lived in one apartment in Japan, and this apartment has only foreign tenants, but as far as my situation goes, yes there have been complaints about noise in my apartment. Usually the noise has to be pretty loud, reoccurring, and bothersome for someone to make a complaint though. I think as long as you are making noise at reasonable hours and days you shouldn’t have any problems. What I have seen so far is noise being made past 10pm on a work night so my advice to you would be to just play on the side of caution and keep music at a reasonable volume during reasonable hours (anything after 9am and before 10pm on a weekday. You should be safe :) great question. Thanks for asking. Hope my answer was slightly helpful !
