It's also interesting to think about what happens when you drop the phone. With the modern phones, you generally hit the back, screen, or sides, which can impact the screen. While on the old brick-style phones, you could hit the back, front, or sides. But it was very unlikely that the screen would receive much, if any, impact.

I owned an S4, an S7 and an S10+ and i can say, that my S4 survived the best. The only damage that happened to it was a crack in the glass, but the display still worked perfectly. My S7 was similar; two cracks in the glass, but still working fine. My S10+ fell with a case and the glass cracked worse than my other two phones. It was still working at that time, but later became completely unresponsive.

I had that Nokia phone and passed it on to a friend when I got a Walkman phone. My friend worked in a warehouse -- one day while he was on the catwalk for the second tier of the area where he was working, he dropped the Nokia phone -- a twelve foot drop. No visible damage and still worked well.

Samsung released 5 versions of the S2 just in Canada alone. I think some of the other S2 models were stronger than the 9100 model shown. The 757 and 989 versions had a little different body design as well as a few internal differences.

I skipped the scratch resistance cuz I've seen it a thousand times. Plastic scratches at level 3 and glass scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 🤣😜

I can report from my long term testing that the s8 holds up well to light impacts for about 4 years when it shattered from falling of my bed onto a relatively soft floor, asfalt from waist height (6foot tall) also took a big chunk out of the display glass, not to bad if your careful

I've had an S8+ since August 2019 and I must say it has survive so much. I've never had any problem until last months when it fell and finally, after 1 1/2 years, the screen broke... and only a little bit in the corner

One thing you missed out on the damage test is on the S10 you wasnt able to test the 512gb ceramic version.. i found it quite hard to find comparisons on the ceramic backed smartphones compared to the usual glass variants.. oh well... keep up the good work 'Mr Whos the boss.? ' 👋😂☕

The 3310 uses an old school LCD, which is incredibly brittle because of their structure. The screen is recessed though, so it would almost never be impacted when dropped. So the shell is the only part that will really take a beating. That's why it's known to never break.

With the S6 Edge I'm using to comment right now, this phone has been one of a juggernaut when it comes to few foot drops. I've dropped my S6 Edge more than 10 times (and on concrete) and the phone managed to survive with only 2 cracks on the back and the chips were completely fine. The chips inside didn't leave a scratch but compared to my Samsung S8, it doesn't last long when I dropped it with just a few foot high. The chips inside wasn't responsive after I dropped it when I woke up. The S6 Edge has been taking abusive ever since my brother bought his S6 Edge back in 2015 and broke the front camera glass but when the other S series came out, he didn't use the S6 until I broke the chips inside the S8 and that's when I used his S6 Edge again in 2022.

The s5 had a flaw where fairly tame acceleration could break the GPU. The phone would still work otherwise and look completely unharmed, but wouldn't output a picture. It looks like that's what happened with the side hammer test on this one if I were to guess.

I've had the s10+ since it came out and it's an absolute monster of phone, I can't describe how many times I've dropped it on yeeted it across the room when I get up with my headphones still on. I even let my 3 year old nephew play with it without any worry.
