A korean here. Honestly, I expected her to read off a handful of well known phrases over and over, but very impressed at how many random phrases she knows. It definitely sounds like she is forming these sentences on her own, instead of memorizing a whole sentence without knowing which word means which. Great job!
@GlowingPie

Hi👋🏻 I'm learning Korean and I have a question😅 Is it correct that she says "나는 smth (BTS/K-dramas) 좋아요"? In our school we are taught to say "나는 smth을/를 좋아해요" or "smth이/가 좋아요". So this is mistake or not? I'd be glad if you answer. Sorry for disturbing you🙏🏼
@biggity9646
@biggity9646 3 роки тому
@@GlowingPie both are correct
@aaul7632
@aaul7632 3 роки тому
@@GlowingPie sorry for the long response. I got carried away because I was mind blown by the differences in these sentences myself. I am a native speaker, but didn't stay in Korea long enough to learn proper grammar, so I never consciously knew the differences. They are all coherent sentences, but they _definitely_ have different semantics/emphasis. Some of the differences are considered grammar mistakes. There are several differences between the sentences, so let me break them down: 1. 좋아요 vs 좋아해요. Honestly, I never realized that these verbs meant different things until I read your sentences out loud. (mind blown) They both translate to "to like" in English, but they have different connotations. 좋아요 describes the current (slightly implying a temporary, but not necessarily) state of preference/liking. Almost like "(to me), BTS is good". 좋아해요 describes an ongoing state, e.g. to describe your favorite thing. 좋아요 is for when someone asks: "What do you want for lunch? Is Mexican food okay?". 좋아해요 is for like your favorites (kinda like how you can answer "I *do* like me some BTS" vs "Mexican sounds good". If you say "I do like me some Mexican", that kinda implies that Mexican food is often your choice). 좋아해요 *kinda* translates to "I do like", but not quite/always. The difference/emphasis is very subtle though, so either can be used to get your point across, but anyone fluent in korean would pick up the awkward grammar. Also, coincidentally (or maybe naturally), "해" also means "to do" in Korean. My mind is blown. 2. 을/를 vs 이/가. They seem like they are prepositions like "to" and "at". They happen to be paired with the right verbs in your example. For these two particular verbs, once you realize the correct verb to use, their respective prepositions would need to follow. It would be incorrect to mix-and-match them: ""나는 smth이/가 좋아해요" / "나는 smth을/를 좋아요" would be wrong. I don't know what the rule is for which one to choose when, but they definitely do follow a certain rule, I bet. 3. 을/를/이/가 vs not having them at all. They can be omitted like the subject can be omitted in Korean/English (in korean, subjects seem to get omitted more leniently than they do in English). When you omit them, the sentence becomes slightly more informal.
@GlowingPie

In fact, the noun "ser" means "being": Un ser humano = A human being. "Estar" expresses HOW or WHERE you are. Your current "state". The related noun "estado" means "state": Mi estado mental = My mental state. Some more examples: Soy Sharon (I am Sharon) Soy francesa (I am French) Soy tu amiga (I am your friend) Estoy aquí (I am here) Estoy cansada (I am tired) Estoy en casa (I am at home)

Girl you’re doing awesome for real! I’ve was a Spanish tutor while getting my ESL Masters. Believe me that there’s so many different kinds of Spanish that it’s even confusing for different fluent Spanish speakers; for example when I (I’m puertorriqueña) talk to friend from Argentina, we had a bit of confusion in some words. If you need help, reach out, no shame... SIGUE ADELANTE!

I think it is very interesting how the voice of one changes depending on the language he is speaking. Of course you are whispering so it doesn't make that big of adifference but i just thought of it. My mother tongue is German and my friends say that my voice sounds deeper every time i am speaking Englisch. In Dutch i thinik my voice sounds pretty normal because it is so similar to German.
