I just did a 2000km road trip in this car (GT Line), driving from the Swedish southwest up north and back. It's a fantastic vehicle indeed. Excellent charging performance (flat curve, if you pre-heat accordingly you'll see 160-180kW+ speeds even at 15% and 75-80% state of charge. Very reassuring to drive, very comfortable and as you say LOADS of tech - with most of it being focused on actual everyday usability rather than just cool gimmicks to show off to your nerdy friends (aka Mercedes EQ models). I love that i can just charge my cameras and drones while driving. Also, the paus mode (aka "camping mode") works perfectly. The car pulled only 10% battery running overnight as a campervan. Cheers!

As someone with a lot of siblings, the feature to switch from charging to charging + data transfer is CRIMINALLY underrated. “No mom, I don’t want my phone connect to the cars system rn. Just needed to charge.” That’s a feature that came from someone who’s had that experience, props to KIA

This is the best feature that has come out of a car company in the last couple of years. As a dad trying to drive and listen to music and my kids pop their phones into the charger while listening to their headphones I can say no one wins that battle. KIA has saved the day with this feature.

I have a KIA carnival 2022 with 70k miles on it already and let me tell you how much of an awesome car it has been. zero engine problems, everything works still and smoothly, all the electronics work never had to change anything on it from the dealer or bring it to fix something specific. ZERO PROBLEMS. KIA most definitely deserves this praise because it has truly reinvented itself.

Kia is currently the master at bringing good looking cars at an affordable price. Like sure, they could get rid of some plastic, but at what cost? Almost every car they put out right now matches or undercuts their competetors while looking better. The EV9 doesn't just look good, it's freaking sexy imo

@@terencewrennd.1741 Not a chance, the build quality and support you'd get from kia is way better than tesla. Tesla's also look butt ugly. I have to stare at so many of them everyday and the shear ugliness of the car is slowly starting to drive me insane. The only modern car I think is more ugly is a honda civic from the mid 2010's. Kia makes a better car than tesla and that's not really that crazy when you consider how long they have been in business. The real reason you shouldn't buy a kia is that they sell your data to your insurance company. They sell your location data, acceleration, breaking, speed, what trips you've taken, where you been, etc. They track everything and sell it to your insurance. Your insurance will than take that data and jack up your insurance rates. Considering that tesla is also only going downhill at the moment, they too will likely start to sell your data soon if they don't already. Getting a car that isn't ruined by some shitty business practice these days is a fucking a chore.

I have been a BMW owner for almost 30 years. I wanted a fast electric car so I ordered an i4 M50. After nearly a year I got tired of waiting. I went into a Kia dealership a year ago and saw an EV6 GT on the floor. Got in it, got a great feeling from it, took it for a test drive and bought it. I decided to forget about the label and try something different - I’m so glad I did. Been driving my EV9 GT for almost 2 months now, over 1100 miles. I cannot say enough with how happy my family is. It really feels luxury, it is almost stupid how fast it is, and it does feel like they thought of everything. With the heavy doors (vs minivan sliding doors), my 5 year old took a couple trips to get used to using them, but now she does it on her own. My biggest 2 annoyances so far are that the rear windshield wiper doesn't do the whole rear window well and the massage seat is only for the driver (my kids love the heated captains chairs though). And if your biggest problem is a lack of massage seats for the passengers, that tells you how amazing the car is.

We bought an EV9 yesterday and are absolutely blown away. SO quiet compared to the M3! Kids say "I feel like I'm in a plane!" I think when word of mouth spreads, especially among families, and especially when they are made in the US or have other incentives applied, this car will pop off in demand like the Telluride. Well done engineers of Kia and especially love the hard work that went into the recent OTA updates that fixed the battery issue.

sliding doors are the only minivan feature that is missing. The sliding door access for getting larger things in and out of the side is the only thing missing from it at this point. Rivian was suppose to roll off the assembly line by 2023... but was taking longer and longer. Started hearing more about the EV9 fall of 2023. Took back my deposit for my R1S. They were taking too long to get my configuration off the assembly line. 3 weeks ago I bought my EV9 GT and loving it. Glad you're letting more folks know about KIA. as Hancock would say... As a minivan driver, this aint it. Minivans have a flat floor from front to back, seats that fold into the floor (or remove altogether) to allow a 4'x8' sheet of plywood or drywall to lay flat with the rear gate closed, sliding doors that allow for a bigger opening without needing so much clearance between the car next to you, and they still have more 3rd row legroom AND storage room behind the 3rd row. Also, the floor height is lower (better) so they: are easier to get people and big items in and out of, allow for taller items to fit and people to stand more upright when moving around, and it lowers the cg to noticably improve handling and driving characteristics. Say what you will about the look, but people are fooling themselves when they pick a 3 row SUV and think it has similar utility as a minivan.

I've had a top-trim Telluride for over 3 years now. With Napa leather seats, a suede headliner, heated/cooled front seats & captains chairs (a feature which some cars that cost double don't have), adaptive cruise control, and tons of the EV9s features shown in this vid, I often feel like I bought a Volvo or Range Rover for $49,000. Yes, there's plastic and faux materials across the cabin, but nothing I touch ever feels cheap, and the highest touch items often actually have aluminum trim to keep the feel premium. Everything has weight and tightness to it, regardless of whether it's plastic or not. Kia isn't the brand it used to be, and hasn't been for almost half a decade now. People discounting cars like the EV9 just because it has a Kia badge need to get with the times and realize they're missing out on what's probably the best value in cars on the market.

The day I first saw a Kia Stinger I totally felt I have to have one someday

EV9 looks surreal when you see it rolling down the streets, regardless of the color but especially that blue!

KIA - "the power to surprise" the old slogan fits now better than ever 🙂

Another great review. I am not even buying a car right now, just an MKBHD fan, but it’s very insightful on the EV development. I’ve seen many drawers, buttons, switches and generally extras in a car brake after not so long time of use however. You might argue that it’s got everything, but that everything might not last for the future. I wonder if it’s actually build well on the inside (outside if the plastic or not aspect, just the mechanisms and all).

Great detailed video. Yes, I'd choose this over the Rivian. It looks more futuristic. I'd make the 2nd row a bench seat, for dropping down and making the back fully flat to place a mattress in for camping.

I drive a 2005 Toyota Yaris and still watched this video. Hope is a great thing

I like minivans because the sliding door openings are a lot bigger- it makes placing a toddler into a baby seat a lot easier. Their heads could bump the opening, don’t ask me why! Mini vans also sit lower so kids and get in easier. More vertical space too. On long trips everyone appreciates having some space

That Hollyland mic sounds really, really good. Had that on my wishlist for a while now and this video finally convinced me to buy. Oh the Kia also seems to be nice 😅

I have a 2022 Telluride and I really like it. The EV9 looks alot like a Telly and I'd buy one for my next vehicle but will hold out a couple more years until better battery options are available for a longer range. 270 mile range is more like 135 in Minnesota winters.

Our family is using a Tesla Model 3 (2018) as the daily commuter and KIA Sedona (2015) as the family vehicle, so I am in the market of upgrading that Sedona to an EV Mini-Van or equivalent. I am waiting for the VW ID Buzz to become available in the US unless something else comes along sooner at right price and features (I need 7-8 passengers).

Minivans have always been at the top of my desired vehicles. They are just so comfortable and useful.

I had this vehicle in the EU for an expo and can say that the swivel seats also come in the EU

Its missing something that will forever keep it from being a minivan, sliding side doors. That is the #1 feature of my minivan that I would never give up.

Marques: These seats have headrests like a Herman Miller office chair. Herman Miller: What is a headrest?

As a 2023 Kia Soul EV driver here in Canada, having traded in my 2015 Kia Soul ICE car, there's NOTHING wrong with Kia. I love the Soul EV, I know it's not sold in the U.S. which makes it even more awesome but it's affordable and fully electric and gets me 450km in range (330km range in winter), more than enough for my needs. Also having weather forecast in the car's navigation is helpful when deciding whether or not to pay for a car wash or wait until there's multiple days of dry weather before dropping almost $20 on a car wash. And since most places in Canada require hands-free with cellphones in the car, having that app on the car's infotainment screen is very helpful.

Love your car reviews. What's missing is the cost of maintenance. Tells what a replacement battery would cost for example.
