An automatic pool playing robot - how hard could it be? Turns out harder than I thought. It took me quite a while to work through all the difficulties of this project but when it all finally came together is so worth it. To my surprise the most interesting aspect of this project is using the cue to play real games of pool over the internet. Let me know if you think twitch plays billiards would be worthwhile...

@@Xadov I don't know about that. This project involved so many different problems from engineering. mathematics, physics, computer science etc. To be sufficiently knowledgeable in all these fields that you can solve these problems in a reasonable amount of time is pretty hard. And I see potential for dividing these problems so that different persons can figure them out. For example one guy can take care of calibrating the camera system. One can be an expert on billard physics and solve the problem from which direction and with what amount of force etc should the queue hit the queueball. One person can build the queue that is capable of performing a shot in a given direction and with a given amount of force etc. Maybe 20 people is a bit much but I'm pretty sure that doing this alone is much harder.

That doesn't mean he needs to do it though, maybe he just likes to have goofy fun inventions here just for the sake of it. The most amazing thing about all your videos is, It shows clearly how complicated the human mind is. When you pick up a pool cue and look at the shot you want to make, your mind makes the calculation in a split second. The brain tells the arms and hands how to find that position that will allow you to make the shot. To transfer that into computer commands proves that complexity.
