@capnfrankly 2 hours ago As an ex Tanker of 15 years in Main Battle Tanks, including Service in VietNam where vision in the jungle was naturally poor and restricted, it is refreshing to see that the Russians have learned nothing, bird cages and Turrets clad in armoured plate . For a start, cladding a tank in Armour over the turret the way they have ,seriously restricts a Crew Commander and crews view of the battlefield on the flanks and rear. This is a great help to infantry who can close in on the tank with impunity and deliver hand held explosives without fearing the tanks secondary armament. It also restricts the movement of the turret which means a limited arc of fire and having to turn the whole tank to bring the main armament to bear. It makes a perfect catchment for blast to stun the crew if they run over an anti-tank mine. It limits the crews ability to dismount in the event of an emergency and gives enemy ground support infantry definite points to await crews dismounting in a hurry, they simply cannot dismount by rolling over the side of the tank or rear, hence become meat for the infantry small arms as they exit over the front. Couple this with poor ammunition placement and the resultant holding in the jets of flame over the crew that result when they are set afire . The blast from any FPV hitting the front of the tank near the gun mantlet will also be contained under the shield to the detriment of the crew and both front and rear of the tank remains vulnerable to FPVs. I recall the American Sherman in World War II being called the "tommy cooker" by the Germans and cynically by the British as the "Ronsons" referring to a cigarette lighter and the ease with which the Tanks were set on fire. Happily for Ukraine this "turtle tank" will be an even better "Russki Fryer", judging by its movements in an attempt to give the crews the vision they need and don't get !!!

It’s crazy to think that because of the state of the warfare in suburban areas the tankers are equipping house like camouflage with a bit of engineering. It’s very interesting and could be vital to ukraines winning of this war.

We can laugh at the blyatmobile but it seems to be working. Russia is adapting and we must not become complacent. They are not the same army as they were in 2022/2023. We don’t want to admit this but it’s true. If we pretend they are completely stupid or incompetent we are just setting ourselves up for disappointment. This whole situation in Donetsk is a very serious problem and we must acknowledge this. Instead of blaming syrskiy or the 115th, we have to recognize how much the ruzzians have improved. Unfortunately..
