not too many people bothered watching the last episode beyond the end credits.... thus they miss the last 48 seconds of the show...

The lack of music makes this so much better some how. I think it's how Guts is now completely different from before. Scarred beyond repair, and all of those ambitious and reflective monologues about himself...all gone. Just silence. Focusing only on Griffith.

You can feel that utter silence being sheer trauma, terror, and hatred culminating in a mission for as much revenge as possible. Like just before this scene was the climactic ending of the eclipse. and then it just cuts.

Also note that how there is no music or OST in the scene and just the sound of heavy footsteps, enforcing the gravity of what has happened-despite minimal animation. THAT IS GOOD ART DIRECTION

After seeing the eclipse, this scene makes me feel so much better about the 1997 anime. Hope has vanished, but Guts picks himself up and his resolve is still there.

besides cutting out puck, and the a few darker things that happened to guts as a child, the Anime really did do very well to get the story, and it follow the manga very closely, only wandering off at moments to censor it to show on TV

@@crylittlesister6377 I think it’s better like that. It’s up to the viewer to decide how on earth Guts escaped that madness. I remember the first time watching berserk I had no idea it had a manga and the ending left me traumatized. I thought Casca was killed off afterwards and Guts escaped by pure luck. In the end as he walked off into the land I knew he was in search of Griffith because he looked pissed and soulless. I was glad to know Casca was alive but left in bad condition.

They probably wanted the anime not to have too strong content like the manga does. And Wyald is probably one of the sickest characters I've ever seen. It would be impossible to fit him in the anime. They would have to adapt him to a less psycho Wyald and that would ruin the character IMO.

@mikeymarshful he's only.. 44? but berserk has been goin since like 1990 (1988 if you count Berserk Prototype), the plot feels *maybe* half way finished and he frequently takes extended breaks after a handful of releases. For example: When i first started reading Berserk (2005 or so?), the friend who got me into it told me it had been on hiatus for about a year. When I finally caught up, it took another 8 months for the next chapter to be released.

reason why it stopped was cus there was a set amount of episodes, so thats why there are missing people from the manga cus it had to fit a set time. i would like to see the movie thats comeing out, should be later this year if im not mistakeing.

First we Guts, minus an eye and an arm, watching "SPOILERS", and the next he's leaving the blacksmith with a serious look in his eyes. Missing a lot of meat in the middle. All bloody first, then just simply all red and grainy with the screen zooming out as he's "walking" away.

@genericsavings I thought the same thing about the characters in the post anime area also, but I gave then a chance. Give them a chance, I have grown to LOVE then just as much as I did the REAL band of the Hawk. I think its messed up that Grififfith started a new Band of the Hawk and I hope Guts slaughter them straight into the depths of hell where lucifer will force them to suffer.
