Two cowboys come upon an Indian lying on his stomach with his ear to the ground...
One of the cowboys stops and says to the other, "You see that Indian?"
"Yeah," says the other cowboy.
"Look," says the first one, "he's listening to the ground."
"I bet he can hear things for miles in any direction."
Just then, the Indian looks up...
"Covered wagon," he says, "about two miles away."
"Two horses, one brown, one white."
"Man, woman, child, household effects in wagon."
"Incredible!" says the cowboy to his friend...
"This Indian knows how far away they are, how many horses, what color they are, who is in the wagon, and what is in the wagon."

(Please forgive me, this joke is almost seventy years old.) A slick politician was running for office, and he was giving a speech on an Indian reservation in Arizona. A big crowd of Indians was listening, and a tribal Chief translated his words into the tribe's language as he spoke. He would talk for a while and the Chief would translate his words into the local language. When he paused, the people would all raise their right arms and enthusiastically shout "Hasewampa!! Hasewampa!!!" The politician asked what that meant. "Oh, that means they're happy! They love you!" the Chief answered. When the speech was over, the Chief escorted the politician back to his car. On the way the politician was about to step into a huge steaming, stinking pile of horse poop. "Watch it! Don't step in the hasewampa!" The chief warned him.

It was the most important game of the year between the home team, Lumberjacks, and the visiting team, The Piledrivers. The action on the field stopped when Lumberjacks star player, Rodney Peters, was injured. The stadium crowd was in a hush. They were concerned about losing their star player. Their concerns, hopes and dreams, were dashed when he was carted off of the field on a stretcher, no longer able to continue. The stadium announcer confirmed the fateful call when he announced, "Ladies and gentlemen. Due to injury, The Lumberjacks will be forced to continue to play with Peters out!"
