What other than a CGI fight do people want from a superhero movie? It can be done with heroes that don't have super powers, but not with the rest. And the absence of CGI fights, would decrease the box office. Because you cannot have the same viewing experience at home with these types of movies.

Third act CGI fests have been done for decades in movies outside of comic book movies like Star Wars and Lord of The Rings ect ect, It all comes down to if you earn it and execute it well.

I thought it was a fun mess. Cletus needed character development, Shriek was all over the place and didn't quite hit But the Eddie/Venom interaction was good and pushed their "symbiosis" forward Cool visuals, weak story, worth the price of the ticket but not much more.

"felt like a 90's movie" Just got home from the theater and am happy you said that... Had a Tim Burton Batman meets 90's Spawn kinda vibe to it... Enjoyed it but didn't love it or bring anything new. 90% of the jokes didn't land more than a grin when you could tell they expected audiences to laugh out loud, making it feel forgivably awkward - Yet had me grinning right till the end.

Laughing at the movie or laughing with movie makes no difference as long as I'm the one laughing 😋

This movie feels like it was made in 2001, and not like the good ones. So over the top, Tom Hardy is great of course. But the movie still disappoints. It's not a good sign when the mid credits scene (which is insanely exciting) is the most interesting part of the movie.

I thought the first film sucked, so I'm not surprised -- or disappointed -- by this. It's what I expected. And why are people sexualizing Venom, of all characters. It's dumb. lol

The only thing I liked about the first movie was Venom. But, I'll give this one a chance.

Saw this movie on the weekend with my nephew. It’s a loud, dumb, fun movie. I don’t know if I like it more than the first Venom though, maybe because Tom Hardy and Venom are still the best parts of the film and they aren’t fresh anymore. I didn’t really care about Carnage, Shriek, or the cop. But the action scenes were fun, and the end credits scene opens up all kinds of possibilities. Just need more character development for anyone who isn’t Venom in future films. And where’s Morbius?

I love how in the church Annie and her husband (The Doctor) come and help Eddie and Venom defeat Kasady and Carnage.

In all fairness Grace Carnage’s rescue of Shriek was awesome. The film had three really good scenes IMO. The trailer one. The one I mentioned. And the final fight.

I knew Venom 2 would have forced comedy and that would ultimately ruin it. The first one worked well cuz they weren’t trying to get funny hence pretty much laughed at the movie.

The amount of people that are impressed with this movie purely because it had that end credit scene is depressing. It could be the most average movie of the year but get hyped up because of that small addition 🤦‍♂️. Brainless fanboyism only makes the things you like get treated with less effort and respect when they know you'll happily accept whatever they put out. Being overly critical is bad being fairly critical to better the thing you love isn't.

I’m okay with more of the same, since I enjoyed the eddy-Venom banter. It’s too bad it didn’t seem to elevate the material, though. I think Sony Venom’s worst enemy is it’s own design. It can’t be fully accessible and gruesome at the same time, so it can only go so far until this franchise commits to one or the other.

For me, the CGI of Venom and Carnage just looks like CGI found in horror games like Resident Evil.

I will not see it until it hits a streaming service in months but I wonder, if a end credit scene is the best part of a movie, it should consider that said movie a bad one?

I haven't seen the first Venom, I'll see it on Netflix next week. I didn't know what to expect from this movie but I was pleasantly surprised how true it remained to the comic, unlike Shang Chi which was unrecognizable. I give the movie 3 to 31/2 stars on its own merits but that end credits scene pushes it all the way to 5 stars.

4:30 there is no situation with carnage because there is not supposed supposed be a separation between Cassidy and carnage. They bond so closely they are one

I find it funny how I’ve liked the two venom movies more than the two newest Spider-Man movies. I love the mcu, but sometimes the smaller scale and more isolated movies are best. Both are great and I am excited for what’s coming next 😉

I'll say this, I really enjoyed Venom and Eddie's dynamic in the first movie and I'm really glad they leaned into it and explored it for this one. I do agree that Shriek did feel pretty shafted for a lot of the time, but I like how Cletus, Carnage, and Shriek were almost like a foil to Eddie, Anne, and Venom. I think this movie is good the same way Independence Day is good. It was a fun time, there was a bit of interesting (if not very deep) themes and character explorations, and it had some funny moments I liked a lot. Eddie and Venom are both said to be losers and they really come off that way, intentionally or not.

I just got out of an IMAX screening and I have never seen so many people walk out of a film. I would've been one as well but my mechanic had my truck so I was trapped, (actually I booked a double feature to fill the afternoon and enjoyed rewatching Shang Chi more.)

I liked this movie. I got exactly what i wanted out of it. Although in some scenes i think venom needs subtitles. I couldn't understand what he was saying.

Perhaps to 90's feeling is intentional.. so that when the multiverse kicks in you get the sense that they are not in the "90's" anymore.

You may have explained why Carnage isn't the blood red I'd have liked, making him darker could be a way to make him less scary. I do think the end fight is better in this as C & S are better villains than the CD or Riot. It did make me want the next part as it is like the Dark Knight were you need the next part. How soon is a big question with Spiderman, Dr Strange 2 & Morbius all probably impacting on EB & Venoms story. Next time will V have a new suit, they do talk about his look. The black toes at the end very funny.

Just got home from seeing it and I'm surprised you basically said everything that I was thinking pretty much cause sometimes our opinions just don't line up. Like with the first film. It's exactly like this film and I just think that the comedy does not make much sense at all with the Venom that I imagined would lead these movies, and even though I kind of liked the humor here more because I was expecting it this time, I still think the tone of these movies is terrible. If this movie was rated r and tried to have this humor, I think it would have torn itself apart. Carnage's prison scene was fantastic though, and I wish Venom was portrayed more threateningly like that in these movies. Cause I still don't understand if he has such a great relationship with Eddie and is more of a hero, why he would want to stay with Peter and turn into a villain. Unless they are building up Venom and Eddie's relationship so it could all come crashing down and then turn him into a much more loathsome character. But I think that would be totally out of whack with all the development they've been trying to do with them so far. Idk, I definitely think it may be worth seeing in the theaters for the great action particularly Carnage who's roar is ear shatteringly great but other than that I think it's more of a streamer or bargain bin movie just like the first.

I haven't watched this movie but i am hoping that it is building into Knull and not making this a spider-man universe thing!!! Knull is way to powerful for them to waste their time making it part of a spider verse. if he's in a few movies sure - that's cool, but spider-man is going to have plenty of movies to play in!!

Absolutely F...... LOVED this Film. Critics of the 1st Venom film may still scoff at it!! I liked the first film a lot more than I thought I would. I wasn't expecting much after the initial critics' critiques this morning on RT, but I was happy to see reviewers came around this time and recognize what we as fans loved about the 1st Venom, "I know you liked the 1st Venom Film Grace'', I'm looking forward to Venom 2; I am seeing Venom 2 today at the first IMAX public screening at AMC.

I use Letterboxd to rate movies, and until the finale fight I'd give it 2/5 but I enjoyed the ending fight so much I put it up to a 3/5. I thought it was brutal, entertaining and much better than the first movies fight.

Tom Hardy's a great actor but I'm not a fan of him in this role. None of the comedy really lands for me and without that this franchise is just some cgi and a story no one cares for.

As much as I luv Tom Hardy ❤️, I wasn't completely sold on the first Venom film 😕 The sequel I will watch at some point but I am in no rush & will put it on the back burner until I get through my backlog 🤔
