I would love for the story to play with another great Shakespearean tale - since the original is so heavily adapted from Hamlet. Imagine Mufas' story playing into Macbeth or Much Ado About Nothing!

Hmmm… not sure 😬 the last few live action films, this, little mermaid, lion king have all seemed flat in colour and vibrancy which the original animation shines with. Also lin manuel has made some cringy choices with songs.. he is either very good or very bad. After the response to the little mermaid and this looking erm flat I don’t think it’s a sure fire win 😬

The expressions look so much better. The scenery is gorgeous. As a teaser it works but I’m confused with the story seems like a mix of Lion King 1.5 and a prequel. “Fly Mufasa, Fly” lol

I don’t know why but seeing this trailer just makes me want to watch The Lion King 1 1/2 again.

yay another live action no one was asking for.... to my least favorite live action remake i couldn't even finish. live action, though beautiful, does a dishonor to disney story telling because it takes the magic right out of it. animals can't emote, which makes it hard to relate-- and takes some of the movies most memorable characters (usually sidekicks) and sidelines them for some floppy chum with hardly any screen time (flounder, abu ect). instead, this whole style makes this feel more like some nat geo docu story vs some wonderful story like the OG. did they also forget their own characters history? mufasa was inline to directly be king.... how is he an orphan? oi. i have no interest in this. also also, bout had it with lin manual getting into everything disney... at least in the gold days, the wonderful talent was able to diversify their musical stylings to sound different and fresh for every movie... and here again ill bet were just gonna get his rappy sing sing which has become way too saturated with the disney name and takes me out of it.

Also, the voice actresses who played Princess Tiana and Doctor Facilier in The Princess and the Frog are voicing Mufasa’s parents. Guess Disney is giving The Princess and The Frog a lot more credit that they should have given it 15 years ago, especially with that theme park ride and Tiana Disney+ series coming up.

I also need to say that I was not interested in this movie until this trailer. I loved it!

I still havent watched the live action lion king and nothing here interests me either , it just feels a little soulless and no idea about the story plus over £200 million budget yikes 😦

Looks way better than the 2019 remake, given the environments seem more lively, the color grading and cinematography looks more properly lit, the animals can express proper emotions this time, and the unexpected X factor of Lin Manuel Miranda doing the original songs for the movie, too. Looks like Barry Jenkins is gonna make a breakout hit of this movie that shouldn’t be underestimated.

I wholeheartedly agree about Disney sequels to Beauty, Aladdin, and Mermaid. I NEED THEM!!
