I was born in 1958 and my dad worked for Delta so we flew alot. My mother told me one time while standing to get off the plane in New Orleans which is where we lived, she noticed a very tall man with the bluest eyes she had ever seen standing behind us staring down at me. She realized it was Billy Graham and said hello to him. He put his hand on my head and said a prayer over me right there on the plane standing in the aisle waiting to get off. I would love to know what he prayed but that was between him and God, but I sure do appreciate doing it.

So here’s a story I got from another fellow UKposts commenter, I’m not going to disclose their name, but I thought it might give a different perspective: “When I was a young boy, Billy Graham had a religious advice column. He gave a woman a piece of advice that I will Never forgive him for. It was from a woman whose husband regularly beat her. He had been beating her for decades, and she was at the end of her rope. She said that she didn't know how she could go on living, that she had lost hope of her husband being less violent towards her, and that she had prayed for years without any help from God. She asked Billy Graham what she should do. Did Billy Graham tell her to go to the police? Did he suggest she go to a woman's shelter? No. He told her that she should endure, and continue to pray for her husband, as a supportive Christian wife should. That was his advice to this poor Christian who made the mistake of writing to him. I always wished that I could have somehow written to her and told her not to listen to this idiot's advice, and to escape immediately. I'm sure she continued to make a fine punching bag for her husband, until she died of abuse or until he died, forever unpunished. Without God ever intervening to help her. Or Billy Graham convincing her to escape her lifelong hell. That is how Billy Graham deserves to be remembered. With utter contempt at his inhuman hypocrisy.”

Randi treasures a letter from Carson in which he quoted the philosopher Francis Bacon's admonition that "a credulous man is a deceiver." Quiet and reclusive in his private life, he preferred to avoid public events and interviews but occasionally engaged in them. So glad I took the time to watch this interview in its entirety. As he spoke of people in crowds still suffering from "cosmic loneliness," it made me wonder what Billy Graham thought of social media before his death 4 years ago. Social media has an deceptive ability to distract us endlessly so many don't even recognize just how truly lonely and spiritually bankrupt we truly are. His message of the light of the gospel is still very much needed today! R.I.P., man of God (1918-2018).

@@TheBlueCream ..........The wages of sin may be death but the gift of God is eternal life to all who trust in His substitutionary death and glorious resurrection. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. His life, imputed within, is one of the many things that takes place in the life of a Christian the moment he trusts in Christ as Saviour. He is taken out of Adam and placed IN Christ. What an incredible contrast there is between the first earthly man - Adam and the second heavenly Man - the Lord Jesus Christ. All that are born IN Adam are dead in their trespasses and sin, estranged from God and without hope in the world. But in His grace God sent His only begotten Son as the one and only sin-substitute for the entire race of fallen humanity. Those who believe in Him are redeemed, they are not condemned and are eternally positioned in Christ - but those who do NOT believe in the only begotten Son of the Father, are condemned already. .......................🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Billy Graham on the most watched late night show in America in 1973. You would never see such a balanced, calm interview now. The video of the message brought in Korea is deeply moving. Anyone with half a heart will choke back tears. So many people hungry to hear a clear, unfiltered, undiluted message of love. Nobody has time for that in America anymore. The fact that Johnny gives Billy a moment to calmly explain the gospel, heaven and even hell without any serious interruption right there on the show tells all. Factually, 99% of church-goers are more or less just like Billy Graham - relatively calm, patient and seeking to bring a message of hope. But look as we may, we will not find such a fairly-broadcasted presentation of the Judeo-Christian worldview in our day, where Christians are depicted as axe-murderers. Times have truly changed. And to think this was only just in 1973.

I have to agree with this, hands down. I was under 4 yrs old when he came to Midland, Texas. My whole family decended to see him for what seems to be about a week. I knew then I was seeing a true man of God. There is a difference between witnessing a believing man putting it on and one who is walking by faith in such an openness you knew when God took over. Maybe being a child made that more clear... He certainly isnt the only one but he was a jewel in the crown.

The early 70’s were not exactly a time of innocence, but seeing this on a major network’s most popular show makes it feel that way in comparison to where we are now. The United States is badly in need of a spiritual revival. May God show mercy on us, though we don’t deserve it, and grant our country repentance, contrition and humility.
