I was thinking more after the war Kreese gained a blood lust for death fights rather than training fighters when he killed his commanding officer in hand to hand combat. Silver this time around was born younger so he did not participate in war and didn’t inherit his family fortune, thus trained with Johnny and give him full support as a friend like what he did with kreese in the originals. Johnny while still trained in his teenage years but was not influenced by Kreese’s extreme behavior so to him the all valley tournament to him was just a small footnote his life and led a better life. Until the hand of fate trapped the 3 cobras in the same place once more.
