Bradley Cooper is a modern day Warren Beatty. Beatty is the only person to have been nominated for Oscars in acting, directing, writing, and producing in the same film, and he did so twice: first for Heaven Can Wait and again for Reds. Now, after A Star Is Born and again for Maestro, Cooper has shown he’s not just a great actor, but he’s also someone who can direct, write, produce, and star in the same film.

So at this point, Bradley Cooper's work in Maestro has been praised by Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Alfonso Cuarón, and Guillermo del Toro. That is seriously impressive, and all the praise is very well-deserved, the film is phenomenal.

@@mrplatink For sure. He also definitely wanted more underwater conducting. I guess his favorite scene must be the bit where Carey Mulligan jumps into the pool 😂.

We have to agree to disagree. Bradley Cooper is very talented,no doubt, but not for “Maestro”,sorry. I am surprised of all these discussions with the biggest movie directors, but actually I realized these conversations are much better than the movie itself. My opinion is not just based on me being a professional classical musician, I probably listened and even watched just about everything Bernstein conducted, not to mention his own compositions and the instructional programs he had which were amazing. I’m not sure what exactly Cooper intended to do, but he definitely over-shot. This is not about Bernstein the legendary conductor, very little about that. It’s about his sexual orientation and the his stormy marriage, or at least part of it. Maybe Cooper used some very special lenses(but that’s the cinematographer) but that’s not the point here. So I don’t understand what is this big hoopla about all this conversations praising to movie to the stars, because that’s not true at all. I am not alone, I know this for a fact,but the movie left me completely unimpressed, and that includes his acting. His makeup was over done and his interpretation also. That’s why he got no Golden Globes and he won’t get any Oscars either. Bernstein was a figure that deserved much better than that. Too bad.

Maestro and Bradley Cooper’s take on the stakes, the drama, the minutiae of the everyday life of Leonard Bernstein; without losing his allure. Almost magnifying the mysticism and humanity of America’s 21st century composer. Every single Biographic film pails in comparison. This movie humanizes him. Where most Biographic films loom under their larger than life figures are trapped by confines of folklore, hearsay and almost risk becoming cliche’s or corny. Maestro’s director Bradly Cooper does none of those things. Forget the technicality of the visuals and the photography, because cinematically everything works. By the end of the film, Leonard Bernstein is your dad, your uncle your best friends older guy friend. He’s so relatable but he doesn’t lose what makes Leonard Bernstein America’s Composer. If you watch the documentaries of Leonard Bernstein funeral procession. And how the construction workers and the common man. Felt like they knew him and say, “Goodbye Lenny”. Bradley Cooper resurrected Leonard Bernstein onscreen, not just through his acting but his cast. Their performances ground the movie. But he made you feel, long and even cry with Leonard Bernstein. As a UKpostsr, who’s only seen a few clips of Leonard Bernstein. A casual classical music enthusiast. And is barely familiar with his work on Broadway and movies. I now can say I have stared at mortality in the face as Leonard Bernstein watched his wife die, and feeling like he never wrote his great American Symphony. That being said, I’m still waiting for a Netflix Leonard Bernstein chronological TV series. Because this movie will almost stump the casual movie goer, who are not used to a visual case study or lack of your typical cinematic language. “The structure with moments, there is not a super imposition of a structure that doesn’t come from a narrative motion”. So this is almost an avant-garde, higher art approach to the medium of the Biographical Movie.” -Guillermo Del Toro With Maestro Netflix Films broke the barrier that’s suffocated film makers in the past (Sergio Leone among others). Netflix is shunning the post Blockbuster Super hero starved Era of Hollywood. Lightning the way are the this brave new world of filmmaking. I can’t wait for the next Netflix film made by other auteurs in the vein of Bradley Cooper or even Martin Scorsese. But as bold and brave as Maestro or Killers of the Flower moon. I hope Netflix brings a new wave of filmmakers, a new way of establishing the future Hollywood or the future of Netflix films. -written by me, A. Ruiz

I absolutely loved Star, but Maestro didn't cut it for me. It's not really a biopic which is what we were led to believe. Is Bradley talented? Of course. And I'm excited to see what he directs next, but this one was off the mark and that's putting it lightly.

netflix is bringing these great directors to praise bradley cooper which is really strange considering how average maestro is, I don't think this movie is going to win netflix an oscar no matter how many big names they bring to praise it.
@OldBluesChapterandVerse

What is strange is that you find it strange that the views of a studio and a series of filmmakers fail to conform to your opinion. Who are you? How do you know so much more about filmmaking than the rest of us? My opinion is worth neither more nor less than yours - it is equal to yours. And I find Maestro to thus far be the best 2023 film I’ve seen.
@ParsaRadfar
@ParsaRadfar 4 місяці тому
@@OldBluesChapterandVerse good, if you think this is the best movie of the year it's the best movie of the year for you, I liked Past Lives more but that's not the point and I didn't write about the "filmmaking" aspect of the maestro let alone pointing fingers at "the rest of you" comparing anyone's knowledge of filmmaking, maestro is beautifully shot and I'm a fan of cooper, my point was and I used "strange" because I have never seen them bring many directors to interview the filmmaker, this is not DGA, they do it (they do it once) and it's because they are all members of the guild and show up for a screening and do the interview, here netflix is bringing these director and we know how bad netflix wants that oscar.
@AST-erisked
@AST-erisked 3 місяці тому
I agree that they want another oscar, like, every studio wants one and this video is basic campaigning. Its reasonable. But also, I think that the Directors invited to praise the movie actually do like it and they've done this with other movies that are not "oscar contenders" per se, like with "Im no longer here". If I know something is that Del Toro doesnt praise something if its not his actual opinion. Maybe you dont agree with them and thats fine. Spielberg, Scorsese and Todd Phillips are producers of the movie. Its not a "detailed conspiracy", its just friends helping friends.

Maestro is based on a false narrative about Bernstein. I posted a new video on my UKposts channel titled THE BERNSTEIN EFFECT. I studied with one of his friends, Ivan Davis, who also performed with him. He's not who you think he is. Arts education was based on his teachings which are designed to make the conductors, pianists and composers stupid. This ruined classical music as an art form and a business. Most of classical recordings are vanity records, because of him. Many of the orchestras have a financial foundation based on criminal activity. They commit wire fraud by soliciting donations with false information. There's a massive amount of jealousy based mental illness, because of Bernstein's assault on arts education. I provide many examples of irrefutable evidence on this subject.
