For those who don't know: Trader Joe's private labels many brands as Trader Joe's products. They partner with brands that a board of taste testers has tasted and scored and pick one brand for each snack/product. The brand they partner with also signs an NDA in the process so there is speculation as to what brand is what but no confirmation.
@mostdope216
@mostdope216 Місяць тому
This definitely true for some products, but If this is the case why do the trader Joe products look different, have different ingredients, and taste different than any comparable brand? If this was true wouldn’t the trader joe takis look and taste like actual takis?
@OfficialDeathScythe
@OfficialDeathScythe Місяць тому
@@mostdope216 No they work closely with their partners to develop the recipe they'll use. I get their dark choclate peanut protein bars all the time and they're the exact same thing as Nature Valley dark chocolate peanut protein bars but ever so slightly better. And a bit cheaper. This is all info that's been told by trader joe's just look it up for more info. There's also a ton of youtubers who have done good videos on how trader joe's works.
@linabean7566
@linabean7566 Місяць тому
it’s not brands, it’s manufacturers. they might use the same manufacturers as some brands though. the only time they’ll use a brand is if they can’t find a manufacturer to make a comparable product for less, or if the process is licensed, like GT Dave’s kombucha. i used to work at Trader Joe’s and this is what they told us at least…

@Serai3

As an American, I confirm, the dark chocolate peanut butter cups are to die for. I always bring those, the praline pecans, and the Jo-Jos to my French mother-in-law. She LOVES them. Make sure you try the peppermint Jo-Jos at Christmastime. They are seriously incredible. All you Brits should know, when the headmaster was asking if the store is "budget", it totally is. I always end up spending way less there than I expect. I walk out with a full bag of stuff for $25.

LOVE my Trader Joe's. I go very often, and yes, I hit up the snacks, but they have great cheese, meats, sides, and frozens too. They have their own brands for most of what we would buy anywhere. Cereals, dairies, all of it is relatively inexpensive. It is always crowded and they have the BEST staff anywhere. So kind, so lovely. You pronounce the word "PRAY-LEANS" if you're in the South, and you would also say "PEA-CON"

Trader Joe's is great for getting a lot of healthier foods as well. They use less artificial preservatives, and often have a great produce section and a rotating selection of premade salads. A lot of their frozen meals are really tasty, and often healthier than brands that are labeled as healthy. Lots of snacks like dried fruit, and plenty of drinks without any sugar or artificial flavoring. Surprisingly good rotating selection of beers and wines too. Saying all that, I always have to grab at least some crazy treat or snack or dip when I'm there.

My first entertainment job was working in development for the Los Angeles Opera back in the 1990s, over a decade after Trader Joe's was sold to a German billionaire. Mr. Joe and Mrs. Alice Coloumbe were my clients and lifetime members of the opera board. I have fond memories of them...they were very 'homey' people and I was friendly with two of their three children. To this day, I have clothing they gave me to wear to the galas. They were very down-home, unpretentious people. Mrs. Coloumbe kind of ran the show as far as their personal lives but Joe was a cool cat in business. Very pleasant gentleman.
