As a former lurker that did hang out on blogsites such as io9, Kotaku and Jalopnik, I never really paid attention to their leftist side too much. io9 had a co-founder that came out as trans and I noticed there was a group of folks praising and idolising the guy, which was real weird and off-putting. I did have some friendly chats with him in the comments section on several topics, and to his credit, it was his “fan base” that were the most rabid. Wasn’t till Trump ran for President that Gawker media went full leftist across every damn blogsite, including ones like Deadspin (sports blog), Jalopnik (used to be the biggest car blog), even Kotaku (covered gaming). Jezabel was always a rabid feminist hub though. I remember posting a positive comment on an article about a historical woman whom I respected. Got several responses to the effect of “Well, gee, thanks for your male-centric approval. Women really needed that.” Here’s hoping those birds find consolation in bags grotesque of phallic-shaped treats and cheap wine.
