I left in 2015. Cost of living was a third of what I left in southern cali. Best part was I found a job making three times what I was making before. The struggle was real in Cali. I should have left sooner.

I am a 6th generation Californian. My 18 year old grandson is the 8th generation for my family. I am leaving for good in about 2 months. Can't stand it anymore. Paying $6 for a gallon of gas when the national average is $3.30. Grocery items going up every week, and not just by a dime or quarter, but a dollar of two.

I am 5th generation Native Californian and I left CA. It has become a cesspool with great weather.

Utilities are so heavily regulated by the government that they can't make any decision without them. The only reason the government doesn't flat-out own the utilities is to avoid civil and criminal responsibility. Same with the education system.

PG and E Pacific Gas and Electric is a privately owned company, what's worse, they're guaranteed a higher than average, profit margin. The state can't mandate anything that PG and E doesn't want, so they're in on this scheme. The state of California is run by the population of the southern half of the state and big cities are entirely democratic and socialist thinking. Any attempt to sever the state, they vote against it, any attempt by the northern half to gain back water or electricity, the south pushes higher rates and more taxes on what the northern half uses from the southern half. This is the oldest problem in California, the north is predominantly rural and conservative, the south more liberal and think taxes are great for the state. Sooner or later, their tax rates will end up at 105% of your income and the state will go broke, because no one can afford to live there any longer, the shininess of the gold is quickly tarnishing. As people leave, they'll keep raising taxes, fees, anything to feed the coffers of the liberal state wishes. I know, I grew up there, lived there for many years, kept leaving but being in electronics, the only place to find employment. Retired, I packed up and got out of there when Newsom took office.

California is a ridiculous state. I tried to sign up to vote and I'm not a democrat. The state claimed my 100 year old bungalow didn't exist and I had to travel 250 miles one way to the county courthouse if I wanted to get approved to vote. Voting isn't worth that because California is under democrat rule.

We had the same plan but my husband worked himself near to death and had a hemorrhagic stroke. He lost his left side and we lost everything we had worked for to hospital bills. Thank heaven he lived.
