Tantalum is very high capacity, but they are polarized and will explode. Polyester caps have lower capacitance for their size than tantalum, but they are not polarized and do not explode.

"Tantalum caps are stable..." _me who blew up a tantalum cap by applying 12 volts in reverse:_ 🤪
