Thank you! I recently became pastor of a small church in NH that had been in long-term decline. Over the past few months we’ve been experiencing growth but still have a long way to go. This video gives me really solid next steps and brings clarity to some of my frustrations.

Wow! What a powerful conversation. I've listened to this twice today and plan to do so again. I needed to hear this and was moved to tears. Thanks Carey and Daryl. (From pastor of a small church in the UK of 85 people).

I love the UK. I have had the privilege of serving there at times. And a church of 85 is a powerful church... keep leading!

Carey, not sure why, as so many of your interviews have been excellent, and I don’t mean to compare them, because they are all uniquely helpful, but this one stands out. Jim

There was a ‘God-incidence’ this week about this. I was walking with my friend and I could tell she had listened to this by her language of needing a ‘one’ in her life. I asked if she had listened to this, and yes, we both listened to it the same day. I had been so inspired by it I had sent it to the Board the night before. She had written a note to herself to share this with me and to tell me to share it with the rest of the Board! God is working in our midst!

Gentlemen, this is an amazingly edifying discussion. I am blessed to teach stewardship as a para-ministry at a good sized church in San Diego, and my heart breaks at the confusion I see in the masses within in the groups I get to teach. As pastors, leaders, an teachers we have to remain focused that God wants a relationship with us, not the propagation of any dogma or religion. I was especially enriched by your discussion on time management/balance between giving time to those already in the body, juxtaposed with spending time seeking and pouring into 'the one.' Keep up the great work, both of you; it matters. This kind of longer form discussion/encouragement was not as available before Covid, and I feel so enriched to be part of this extended Kingdom community. I love your channel, Carey.

This is such a good conversation. I, for one, don't believe there is a magic bullet; there is no one answer or method. There are many answers or many ways to rekindle the spirit and energy. This is one way every person, everyone can do. Man, this is low hanging fruit. Maybe evangelism is not dead after all. Thank you to both Daryl and Carey and everyone behind the scenes.

Great conversation gentleman! My observation has been church leaders seem to make church leaders, But Disciples tend to always make Disciples!

But.... if those two things collide with intentionality, well, then we (the kingdom) have something powerful.

Curious how you can do ministry with a wide net and how that differs from people becoming a project? Do people become a project if you're trying determine if they are "open "? Shouldn't we spend our time with people who haven't had a chance to hear about Jesus whatsoever vs spending time with someone who has rejected many times? Would appreciate your thoughts.

These are such fantastic questions. And certainly cannot be answered within a small comment section. The overall idea expressed around ones need significantly more unpacking vs. just what was talked about on this episode. In fact, I get to unpack that more with hundreds of churches. But maybe in short, it is "all". Meaning, yes we want to tell people who have never heard. Yes, we should have people that we personally love and are passionate about knowing Jesus. Yes, we should share our faith with those we encounter. The overall passion for a "one" is that it is not only caring genuinely about people, which we as Christians should be the best at, but also it is discipleship of us. We grow as we build relationships. But again... it takes a lot more discussion than just right here. Love your questions though!

I'm an Atheist but I can tell you what you will have to resort to to rebuild your religion. But its up to you to respond to me.

There is no reversing the decline of Christianity on the whole. People are becoming better informed and are right to be walking away. No, you do NOT want us unbelievers in your churches, because we will convince your friends, family, and even YOU that your faith is unjustified
@darylcripe
@darylcripe 2 місяці тому
Actually, it is always an honor to hang out with unbelievers because I bet we quickly realize we share a lot more in common than not and we would end up having great conversations about life, and parenting, and jobs, and culture while we sip a coffee.

@@StraightWhiteGuy33 this is so true, but it's a bit like listening to someone gush about a movie franchise that I don't get and trying to learn another person's perspective. Every time I do that I do grow as a human. So talking to you and learning how you see things differently to me will also grow both of us and help both of us to broaden our perspective beyond our own thoughts and beliefs and worldview. Thanks for commenting, it's good for me to hear other perspectives. I really appreciate it and wish more people would try convince me out of my views because it's healthy and good for me. Anyway, thanks for the comments. It's powerful and valuable.
