Ritchie Mcdonald was a true pioneer of the big carp scene and it was an absolute pleasure spending a couple of days in his company on the banks of Norton Disney.
A truly entertaining and inspiring character who you can't help but like, he's got 5 life times worth of stories in him and kept me captivated the whole time I was in his company... I hope you enjoy watching the feature as much as I did making it.
Also featuring Joe Bloggs 'In The Moment' and some 'Carping Calamities' from Jacob Worth.

The word Legend is used so much nowadays but Richie is most definitely one. Fished the C@#$ and Savay long time ago. Learnt so much from him and Andy Little. Great to see him back on the bank, doing what he is a master at. Long may he continue 👍👍👍👍

Anyone who stated Carp fishing in the early to mid 80's will know how much of an inspiration Richie was. I'd go as far to say he was my icon. Great to see him back on the bank.

A legend he made me think of my angling days I have not been for a least two years now since covid but seeing Richie it has made me feel like going and I now what he is going through good days and bad but talking about it is the best way to get back to the good times so thank you

I was about 15 when I first met Richie, Colne Valley, The C***. I lived about half a hour's walk away, Him and GS, just like a comedy duo, top banter, learnt a lot by watching and chatting to them back then. I quit carping when I was about 20, did ok but fell into the woman/beer trap. Well done Richie, very inspirational.

Ritchie Mac legend!!. When I was in my mid teens and started carp fishing. The tales of catching Jumbo from the pads, then spinning his bed around and having heather..💪😲👌 was all the inspiration I needed. On par with springates brace 💯🔥 believe there was a lilo involved in the capture too 😂😂

That was a fantastic episode. Richie is a great angler, sorry to hear about his battle with drink and his absence from fishing. I remember flicking through the magazines in the late 80's early 90's seeing the photos of Richie, I persevered with Kryston multi strand for a few years because of his photos on some of the adverts

I remember when Ritchie caught Basil & seeing the photo for the first time, my chin nearly hit the floor such an iconic shot. Still have a signed copy of Ritchie’s book , one of my most treasured possessions, him & Rod Hutchinson truly inspired me back in the day & still do. Anyone that can publicly say they were an alcoholic for 30 years and overcame that demon is truly inspirational, certainly made me take stock of my life, good on yer Ritchie! In think it was Carp Strikes Back, "Hutchinson" Rod recounts his first and only foray into Target Specimen Carp Fishing ending with a soaking wet Labrador an over friendly blonde, lost Gurrasic Mirror and a rather disgruntled Rod Hutchinson 🤣🤣Ritchie and Rod although very different in there style of angling were identical in there ground breaking approach to Carp and Carp Angling whilst having an absolute riot of a time! Unfortunately "If you want to dance you gotta pay the band" i speak from experience as i have fished since the 80's and struggled with drugs and booze for most of that period I've lost count of the times Fishing has saved the day for me over booze and i hope it does the sane for you Ritchie Tight Lines all Brad Clarke

Hey Joe! (as Jimi Hendrix once sang!) I just realised the band I was in in the 90s was called Mantaray and one of our singles was used on CarpTV (The bit where Terry Hearn talks about his capture of Mary!). I wondered if you chose it or somebody else did? Don't worry, I'm not chasing up royalties! It was also used on a few NASH videos. Maybe because we were all Essex boys!
