I've never seen an album kill an artist's career trajectory so fast like this one. Chance was hyped up to be the next big hiphop act to take over after Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Kanye. All that hype died down the minute he released this. He hasn't released a new album yet and people forgotten about him. His previous mixtapes don't receive as much praise anymore either. Crazy.

Was literally thinking this lately as well. Remember when Chance ruled the fucking earth? Hanging out with Obama and being fucking untouchable in Chicago based off of MIXTAPES? The amount of copium I've seen from Chance Stan's who say "oh he's in that Common lane now, he's about Conscious Hiphop" but they conveniently leave out that Common was actually GOOD at that type of rap. Chance's pseudo spoken word sounds like thursday night at the open mic coffee shop

I've never seen an album ruin someone's career to the extent that this one did. It would be an interesting video to see a compilation of albums that ended/hurt careers ranked on how bad they hurt the artist.

@Sidharth Rao I think musicians should never be told that they are the greatest because it screws with their head and they start thinking that they are so great that whatever music they make will be loved automatically. You could see it happening with Chance, I remember seeing him say "we are the culture, whatever we do is the culture".
