As an insurance appraiser, I look at at least 30 trailers a year with water leaks. Usually only one or two are aluminum sided. More expensive doesn't always mean less susceptible to leaks in my experience. Filon sided trailers have there issues too, depending on the manufacturer. Jayco is one of the more affordable units that don't usually have as many issues because of the way they vacuum press their filon skins to the backing board.

Years ago when we bought our first trailer, which seemed to be riddled with problems, I was speaking to an older guy at the dump station of the park we were at ( it's like gathering around the kitchen at parties - everyone meets at the dump station ), he had a giant, triple axle 5th wheel that my truck and trailer would have fit inside. After talking about the issues we were having, his response was; " they're all shit, doesn't matter the size, the brand or price - they are all built the same way". He said what you do is find the floorpan that suits what you want, then go find a dealer will look after you, because you are always going to have problems. A good dealer is more important than price, or features, or any of the flashy stuff that makes you buy it. This trailer being a Forest River product was likely built in the same factory as our Wolf Pup 16FQ - it's the same floorplan, with a few different features. I think you're a bit off on the aluminum siding though. There are far more cases of the fibreglass sides delaminating because of water seepage, that with the aluminum siding which mostly the same as what's on people's houses and is how trailers were built for many decades. It's only the last 25 or so years that the smooth sided fibreglass (or Azdel I think?), trailers have been around. Do a video where you take a trailer camping, from picking it up, parking at the site, hooking up everything, travelling with it - all that stuff.

Well I’m glad to see some videos on this type of RV I owned many and my current Jayco is similar to this and it’s the best choice I’ve made. The other thing I like about these style RV’s is that you can watch for certain layouts and models choose what you like and haggle haggle and haggle because unlike other vehicle RV’s of a certain type these can be had for at least 20% off a sale price, at least, and try to find the one you want as a leftover from the previous model year. Never pay MSRP, and don’t worry about dealers they usually have the worst service after the sale, on average; I’m not labeling good RV dealers, but average so I’m not loyal I just want the best deal. OH and if your in the USA never buy form Camping World unless you A. have your own financing or B. buy outright look them up you’ll see the dirty tricks the play on unsuspecting people especially first time RV buyers.

I have a Wolf Pup 15sw with this siding, I bought it because it has this siding. It last longer and is easier to fix than composite materials, and no swirly decals. I prefer stick and tin trailers. They are lighter and easier to fix or modify if you have to do something to them. The price is cheap and you sleep well, eat well and shower well in them, just as good as the heavy plastic models that cost 5 times as much.

"This review" Stephen, it was good. You were straight up honest that for nearly 20K, you get what you pay for. Now my advice for anyone reading my comment, don't spend your hard earned $ on a NEW camper. It is a crap shoot. You are better off buying a used one from a rental company. BECAUSE most of those companies re-enforce them with better materials. They clean them up AND do regular maintenance on them during their time in service. PLUS they fix any manufacturers defects that it comes with so you don't have to. And finally, obviously the price is going to be lower than new. So you get a hell of a lot more bang for your buck from buying a used one from a reputable renting agency. Buying a used one from a private seller is worse than new because it is more than likely the owners got tired of the problems they did not want to deal with and are just trying to unload it on you. So that is the best advice out there. Take my word on it, I have been doing research for months on this topic. ;)

These panels are are inferior to single sheer design. So many more fail points not to mention let's more heat/cold in, hence the big AC need education on this camper. It's also extremely heavy which eliminated the being able to pull it with all but Full size SUVs that can tow 6000lbs like a Yukon.

Thanks for this comment! I figure it can't be all bad! Obviously, he geared the review to people who don't have $40K to spend on a dang camper! As long as I know up front what to look for, I don't mind a few things. I'd probably throw some caulking down every seam as soon as I get it.
@americanrambler4972
@americanrambler4972 3 роки тому
James Just where are the additional fail points? You still have the same number of holes cut into the sides and roof as the composite units. The seams which fail are in all the same locations. Most of the hardware installed in those holes is the same. The multiple seams running along the sides of the tin units do not leak once installed unless you park the trailer upside down or rolled over 90 degrees. The only advantage a composite has over aluminum is the heat and radiant heat transfer rate between the two. That is easily mitigated with a layer of house wrap or even just a layer of inexpensive plastic wrap which would also eliminate the heat and cold transfer along with the air drafts. It would also eliminate the condensation issues. As far as cost, when I look at the repair supplies market, tin side related materials are less expensive per square foot than composite side materials.

People should know that the letters mean something. For example, RB means rear bathroom. Once you break the code, it speeds up the searching, all of the trailers look the same anyway. The more bells and whistles you get, the more things you have that can break. Tell new campers that they will use their external speakers only once, playing music that can be heard outside your campsite is extremely rude, and people will get even with you if you do not turn down your noise after they ask nicely.

We call those "stick and tin" trailers. It looks like it has a black tank flush connection on the back too.

In 2017 I bought a brand new 24 ft Ultra light Passport travel trailer with bunk beds, queen size bed, slide out, out door kitchen, ample storage, AC, heat etc... for $20,000 out the door. What the hell is with the price of this sardine can? Anyone who buys it is a fool.

I've been camping most of my life, not once did I ever hear, "We need an oven in here..."

An oven is probably overkill. A cooktop and a microwave are more than enough for civilized camping.

I have a family of 5 and we never cook in our camper. The kitchen is always outside.

Good little camper for its purpose. but for 12k-18k, you have a ton of options in the used market that would give u a lot more space and or options
