I’ve decided to buy Coleman Hughes’ book for having to put with these arrogant, race-baiting old ladies on the View. Good job to Coleman for keeping cool while under fire.

They were so condescending to him. Whoopi telling him he was too young to have an opinion on this. Sunny telling him he was being called a “charlatan” and haplessly used by conservatives. That kind of smug, passive aggressive character assassination is appalling.

I love when Sunny said "I know Dr. King's daughter" and he was like "yeah, okay" He was not impressed. Mr. Hughes was so calm and mature on that stage. He treated the women with respect while being put down. What an amazing young man!

Sunny, if he is a conservative, so what? Her conduct and pointing her finger is rude. As per usual. Coleman Hughes is a young future scholar of the USA. As a Canadian, I find him to be refreshing, and highly intelligent.

I love his logic. He's right to say that your character and how you carry yourself throughout life is what matters. As a Hispanic woman in my 60s, I've been discriminated against, not just for being that race, but more as a woman and by other women, which is worse. but I choose not to accept it and felt those people were ignorant and don't know me, and basically don't care. My parents were immigrants, extremely hard working, and that's more important than anything, instill that into your children, rather than being angry and blaming others for how they treat you.

A textbook example of “cool under fire.” Bravo, Mr. Hughes! And extra credit for pointing out the “ad hominem” attacks for what they are. An “ad hominem” argument doesn’t address the other person’s argument, but instead attacks that person’s character. Saying, for example, “He’s wrong, because he cheats on his wife.”

Sunny cannot handle an opposing opinion.

I respect Coleman Hughes. One of the things that bugs me about Sunny is how she thinks she speaks for ALL black people and how if you're a black person who does not think exactly like her, you are a traitor or an Uncle Tom or whatever. While this is an on going battle that takes all of us to get through together, where I draw the line is when Sunny starts talking as if she knows every black person in this country. I'm a black man, I don't need Sunny to speak for me. I can take care of and speak up for myself. I appreciate Sunny for continuing to call out injustices to our people when that happens. However, Sunny has a problem and that is believing that she is speaking on behalf of all black people. As a black man, while I believe there are some ideas and values that all black people must keep, I also believe that you cannot enforce that feeling down someone's throat.

I have never heard of Coleman Hughes before, but I must say that I am impressed. I do agree with his assertions and I find his eloquence refreshing. His approach to poverty and race is spot on; you address the issue and if a certain race is a majority suffering from that issue it will be addressed in a fair and organic matter. I am not sure who that contrarian lady is and at this point I feel zero reason to find out.

As a white man, I applaud this man for his views and for standing his ground. I 100% agree with him. A poor white family in America deserves as much help as a poor black family in America. Neither one is less important than the other.

In the end it was the best Coleman 'Your race is not a significant feature of who you are, who you are is your character and your value." and then the lady said "Thank you Coleman Hughes, this is a show of lot of different opinions and we are all multigenerational and we all got an opinion" That's basically the video, Coleman is calm, cool and collected and I applaud that and this is what all of us should strive towards.

I appreciated Whoopie’s measured approach here. She met Coleman where he was at and wisely didn’t attack his logic. Unlike Sunny, who should’ve pulled back when it was clear he was talking the most sense and is obviously less biased and more informed on this topic than she is.

The View is an embarrassment to itself. Sunny Hostin's extreme condescension and utter rudeness to hosts shows how intellectually shallow she is. Respect to Coleman Hughes for remaining polite and focused on the topic, in the face of a rude panel.

Colman gave a master class to everyone and showed a viewing audience what an objective conversation sounds like. He stuck to his argument in a calm demeanor, addressed everyone with his talking points and counter their talking points in a respectful tone. I hope who ever watched this sees how to explain their own points of view without turning ugly or going off topic. The more I see and hear from Mr. Hughes the more impressed I am that intelligence, logic and civility still exists.
