This goes against ANY type of firefighting training. Running is not safe on the fire ground. So if one of firefighters gets hurt serious enough to end their career who is responsible?

1. This was an actual technique used by firefighters up until ladder trucks became common place. It is called the Boston Method. Boston has incredibly narrow street even today making massive ladder trucks almost impossible. Boston still is extension ladder strong. 2. As for gear questions. Self Contained Breathing Apparatus was not popular until the early 1990s in most departments. We have come a long way safety wise. Some departments had SCBA back in the 1970s but it was only for rescue teams. That is why Fire Fighters are called smoke eaters as our predecessors actually are smoke putting out fires. Oh, for those wondering about windows. They would use the hooks on the ladder to breat the windows. They also went much slower back in the 1850s to 1940s when this method was popular
