"The winner is the person who gets asked to play again..." Little nuggets like that are the reasons why when Dr. Peterson speaks we listen!
@ScholasticChad
@ScholasticChad 9 місяців тому
And the winner of the 2024 World Series is.. Peterson's whole ideology is predicated on hierarchies of competence. First and foremost, one should establish a domain of value that they can provide for others, and then you can play within, or around the structure. Tldr - play second, work first.
@lisafeck1537
@lisafeck1537 2 місяці тому
Yes. These nuggets are true, factual, reality. So much harm in not having sincere awareness of the simple truths of reality. Thise realities make life so much richer, makes us stronger, more confident if we are already in that boat of being asked to play again, if the playmates are worthy of our time and integrity.
@rosebush7000

@@rosebush7000 which was clearly addressed and clarified in the video... You don't have to agree with every idea a person has, or even like them, to give credit where credit is due. If you wanna be successful, you must take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to making you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. We experienced the peak of our era, and now it is gone. Recession is tanking everything including 401K. My retirement equities portfolio of $750K is in the reds. I keep losing because of inflation. This world will fall to the corrupt rulers in the same way that Rome did. I'm sorry if you're thinking about retiring and you're worried that your pension won't be enough to meet the rising cost of living. Horrible foreign policies everywhere, bad regulatory policy, bad fiscal policy, and bad energy policy.

Nobody can suddenly become prosperous financially. Although they did the background work, we mostly see the ultimate product. Fear is a harmful factor that prevents us from making the courageous decisions we need to make in order to achieve our goals. There was a writer named Harry Golden who sometimes reminisced in the fifties about his youth on the lower east side of New York around 1900 - 1920. One of his stories was about the clothing stores and all the tricks they had for taking advantage of their customers. Then he went on to say, these tricky guys, for all their cleverness, never amounted to much. They would be in business a year or two then disappear, no one knew where they went and no one cared. The real successful merchants offered their customers good value for their money and a money back guarantee. Those were the stores that went on for 10, 20, 30, or 40 years getting bigger and stronger all the time. These were the great department stores and clothing stores that became household names in their cities. So if you want a real long lasting success you have to treat your customers right and build up a business over time.
