Dale is such a genuine, down to Earth, kind person. It’s so rare these days, especially with someone who has the fame and fortune that Jr has. Most people would not have turned out like Jr did if they grew up in his shoes, trying to live up to expectations (relationship with his dad) then finally reaching his goal, racing in Cup with Sr then having to endure after the tragedy of losing his Father and having to be reminded of that fact every single day by everyone you see and everyone you work with. Most people couldn’t fathom the amount of pressure and strain that puts on a person. If anyone wonders why NASCAR fans adore him, watch this video and you’ll have your answer. He’s done so much for NASCAR and we as fans are lucky to have him.

Both of you giving real authentic apologies and listening to the other side understanding how and why what happened could've hurt the other. Setting a great example for fans and listeners. This podcast was amazing ❤️

The one thing you have to like about Kevin is, he will own his comments. Whether you like or not what he said, he is genuine.

Old school NASCAR fans loved to hate the “bad guy” and Jimmie Johnson was for the most part just to nice.

Honestly we all could learn something from these podcasts with regards to talking through issues and just being real and unbiased with each other and figuring out how to patch things up and move on with life. So many people (especially these days) are so quick to just dismiss someone and never bother with them again. They don't even care to hear another's perspective, and ultimately it ends with nothing being resolved. Great stuff right here guys.

Kevin's body language is really cool here. He's often reaching out with his hand literally in the direction of Dale Jr. several times, at moments where he knows he has something good to contribute, another contrition to offer. He appears more and more comfortable as the conversation carries on. A tribute to everyone's empathy, for both situation and conversation.

I listened to the whole podcast on spotify yesterday. I have another level of respect for KH. For both DEJ & KH to sit down, express their feeling, listen to each other, accept each other's apologies, big time mature grown man stuff. This is how you talk it out and bury the hatchet. Well done!!!

We all know it, but it should be said: These two have quite a connection, even before the Xfinity stuff. Kevin is the man who stepped into Dale's father's car after his death. That alone should create quite a bond, but I can imagine it could grow some animosity too if such a seed is later planted. Maybe I am in a unique subset of NASCAR fans, but from 2001 through 2017, my favorite two drivers on the track were Kevin Harvick and Dale Jr. So it is great to see my favs talking and being good to each other. I wish I could see more of this one on video. I'll have to go listen to the entire podcast now anyway!

I've been a Harvick fan since his 1st win at Atlanta Motor Speedway only his 3rd Cup start. Passing Jeff Gordon on the high side coming out of the 4th turn.... Extraordinary win! Especially during that current time during that particular era. It was full of emotions.

Harvick is not the least bit afraid of stating his opinion and manning up. And before you start talking about him not removing his helmet just sit back and think, was that his focus at the moment, in the heat of the moment? Harvick has never backed down, hence, why he was tapped by Big E himself as his replacement when he retired (while running Junior's team). But you can tell by their eye contact and how they discuss it and laugh at each other. Thank you Junior for bringing a legend here while you still give back to the sport! Thank you for doing another great podcast show I appreciated that Dale and Kevin could finally clear the air and now I feel better about the situation as a fan of both of them I've always had mad respect 4 Kevin stepin into Sr.'s car and doin a great job under such hard circumstances so thanks 4 another great show. Look at these two, talking like adults after all these years. It's long overdue. Jr has grown into a great man, he doesn't hold back. He's alot like his dad in that respect. I love this, his dad would be so proud of the man he's become.

Dale is such a standup gentleman. A class act. And an all-time great. A legend.

It’s truly great to finally hear the airing out of these past grievances. Kevin was definitely put in a bad position when he was renegotiating his ‘17 deal with Stewart-Haas during the period of a youth movement into the sport, where hungry young drivers would accept much less to get a seat. But keep in mind Jimmie Johnson’s comments of a few days ago, where he said the EXACT SAME THING about the sport moving ahead…that salaries are high and costs are being drastically cut… It really makes you think that Jr. was EXACTLY correct at that time, and was forecasting where the business model was changing, whether Kevin Harvick liked the comments (regarding his pending financial situation) or not!

I really respect the way Dale and Kevin handled this. They talked it out, stayed calm, and then let it go. Glad to see them move forward with a renewed, healed friendship.

This conversation just goes to prove how you may say something, with no intentions of hurting someone else, that greatly affects them personally. Then how easy it is to take it personal to the point you get angry and bitter towards the person that said it because you think it was directed at you. It was nice to see both guys explain what was going on in their world at the moment they both said what they did so each of them completely understood the others point of view. Lots of things wouldn’t ever be problems if we took the time to hear each other out. Good lesson in this podcast.

This conversation is a prime example of why I always like to say no matter the topic, no matter the persons discussing it, objectivity is a myth. There ain't no such thing. Everybody's looking at a situation from his/her own perspective, simply because it's damn near impossible to see it from another's perspective. But it always helps to try.

As a life long fan of both of you guys this went exactly as I expected it would. Two sides to the story and a bunch of back story most of if not all of us didn't know about. Glad that it is behind you guys.

Kevin Harvick is a true professional. He handled replacing a legend ! Not many people could of stood up to that pressure.

Dang I never get tired of this behind the scenes transparent stories and admissions! Love Earnhardts and always a huge fan of Harvick. This was such a high level, classy coming together to make things right, I can’t tell you! One, it’s biblical to give up the right to be right and settle differences; that’s the most important. Secondly, these guys always liked either, and to restore that friendship, and a great future between them moving forward is exciting. And finally, they just flat modeled to fans, what everybody ought to being doing in their own lives. So much peace in that.

This was by far the best episode of the download. You guys really got Kevin to open up. I learned so much about him. I can’t wait for next season of the download! My favorite podcast.

Notice carefully what was done here. Egos were set a side. Mouths were shut, and ears were opened. Others were allowed to share their perspective. And resolutions were found. This podcast may be a wonderful lesson in life.

Jimmie was so dominant for so long. I think the fan base associated the lack of diversity regarding success, directly with Jimmie. Any factor the fans weren't pleased with, for example, boring racing, their favorite drivers not winning, predictability of Jimmie dominating at particular race tracks; some of that negativity becomes associated with Jimmie himself. That's my opinion for why Jimmie isn't more popular. In these scenarios, they are loved and appreciated much more in the future, in 60 years Jimmie will get the respect and acknowledgement he deserves.

I love seeing two of my favorite drivers talk it out and bury the hatchet. Maybe we can see Harvick on the show more often now.

I think most drivers in NASCAR assume every person alive has their same competitive spirit, they do not...lol... I remember in my 22 yrs in the Navy, especially first few years, everyone at work hung out together even when they were off, and all we did was talk shop, was like we had little in common with civilians but we did relate in so many ways, but unless you are in whatever "group" you were part of, no one else gets it But, as You young men are learning, as you get older, many times your viewpoint on things changes, and sure, some times you look back and wonder why you did what you did back then, even wonder who that person that was you back then could even been the person that did that! At the same time, you can do what ya'll did , talk about it, share what was going on that neither one knew, and even have a laugh about it...great show!

I have hear the podcast two times. Really enjoyed the talk and discussion they have. This is how to talk about a problem and solve it. Kevin is right about fixing the problem and talk about it like adults. A big fan of both of these guys. Kevin had a same big shoes to fill in 2001.

I was excited to see this. Awesome to see two grown men who have had differences sit down and hash it out. I think Harvick is a lot like Dale Sr. Mad on the track and your friend 5 minutes later. Great show!

What Harvick said was 100 percent correct. There's been many fans who've said the same thing about the most popular driver not being the best in the sport kinda hurting the brand of Nascar. I can totally understand Junior's feelings being hurt as well because they were tight at a one time. Just one of those things that happens in life and shouldn't have taken 4 years to fix.

Used to race (wrench) with Kevin at Mesa Marin. The reason Jimmy (and Kevin) don't get the respect regardless of massive accomplishments.... They are left-coasters! There has always been a stink eye from the traditional southern drivers and more so, the fans. You can hear it in the stands and tone of the crowds. Kinda is what it is unfortunately. Always love Jr. and Kevin and love that you guys air it out. Great convo.

I get the frustration of you got JR on his way out and he’s making people question his legacy and having to defend it to make sure it withstood the test of time. However from Harvicks point of view you have a driver who’s made every damn dollar he could his entire career and on his way out he’s telling drivers they need to lower their prices after he’s already made his money and now you got someone in the middle of a contract negotiation now having to justify his worth because team owners are saying maybe JR is right. Both sides had reason to take it personally.

Lost all respect for Harvick when he pushed Keselowski toward Gordon that started the teams pushing and shoving! Don't believe this would have happened if he had not shoved Brad. Then Harvick sneaks away after the shove. Harvick acted like a kid on the playground to get a fight started! Did he apologize or did NASCAR bring it to Harvick attention?? The reason why nascar fans love the family names is because unlike any other sport it’s a connection to the past. We love nostalgia. And if other sports could do that, they would to. You lose an Earnhardt, you cling to the next one or an Elliot.

Man, I would of loved to be in the room for that podcast. I'm a Harvick fan since he took over the legends car. I'm a Jr fan because he always seemed / seems to be just a down to earth regular guy. To me he just seems like a person that you run into and can talk with him and he would be cool with that. Reminds me of the time I helped Bill Murray at the shop I worked at and him and I just talked. He was normal. I think if I ever get a chance to meet Jr outside of a race track he would be just that other dude. Kevin, I'm a fan until he hangs the helmet up. I would love to just talk with him as well. We all know our chances of doing so are slim to none for opportunities like that. I got the honor to hang out with Kevin for a brief minute at Darlington during the Busch race. We were apart of AC Delco and got to hang in the pit stall during the race. For the brief minute I got to talk to Kev, he made us feel welcomed. He was running double duty so we actually got to talk more with Delana. She was cool as well. Why am I typing this IDK, guess I just think it's super cool that Jr had him on the show and they just did the right thing. You can tell by both of their expressions that, this is what they truly wanted.

One of the best podcasts I've heard in a long time. Quality content. I usually don't watch MMP, JRE, or YMH in it's entirety but DJD always hits different!

Love these pod casts. JR loves this sport and has and continues help it grow. Life is too short, glad these men worked this out. Both have had big shoes to fill,and a lot of pressure to endure.

Major respect for these guys. The world would be a greater place if adults handled things like this.

I listened to the entire podcast and it is one of the best and glad Dale Jr. and Harvick were able to get the animosity resolved. One thing that NASCAR lost when Bill France Jr. passed away was how he would get drivers that were feuding to have dinner with him and things got patched up. They might not become the best of friends, but things got resolved in private and that was the end of it.

Life is short, I’m glad to see two men mature and put the past behind them.

Mike really seems like the kind of friend everyone needs. Especially for introverted people like Dale Jr. who hate conflict. I'm actually surprised at how blunt and direct he is with Kevin. Every adult in the world could learn something about conflict resolution from this video too. Well done and so glad y'all are good now 👏🏼

What's hurting the sport more than any of this drama is the massive barrier of entry into the sport.

I remember Dale saying how he was let down when the Redskins didn't win. So I invested into Dale Jr the way he felt when the Redskins lost. I was let down when Jr wasn't competitive or didn't win. Good show gang. I think Jr is a humble man.

Nice job guys I hope one day this generation will have their own legends of stockcar racing reunions 👍👍 I watch the old ones every year but way to be men and gentlemen ✌️👍

NASCAR's greatest growth period had the Most Popular Drive win one race in something like 7 seasons. Bill Elliott in the '90s.

I totally didn’t like Dale Jr back at the beginning. I always wanted him to not do well. But now, I totally respect him. I think that he’s such a wonderful role model and very down to earth person.

i have been making that same point about Jimmie Johnson for years. Not a huge fan myself, a little to vanilla for me, but i never understood why people hate on him or boo him. he won the races, won the championships and he was not a dirty driver. or someone who would spout insults.... Still people boo'd him. i get why people boo my boy Kyle B. However, they don't question his ability. maybe JJ should have thrown the occasional helmet, yelled obscenities at a journalist, etc. maybe the people would have related better? fans want to see the passion, not just the flawless work ethic.

I enjoyed listening to this and glad they got all the bad blood behind them ! I can only imagine how hard it was for Dale Junior to get into a race car every time after he lost his father I know that it had to be physically and mentally hard on him and yet he went out every week and did it I do believe after one of his bad wrecks he lost a step as a driver and maybe that's why he didn't run as good as he used to but there was a hell of a driver and he is a hell of a man God bless and Godspeed

Great podcast. Hope it made everything better on both sides. Mike Davis. Love your loyalty. Dale jr has kept nascar going even after retirement. Glad to find out about how the digs come from. But still need to be thankful how a got where he is and be thankful. Nascar needs that big character. They don't hardly make them anymore. That leak to our past heros. Good or bad . Guy driving cars need to be likeable.

Really good lesson demonstrated in this vid. The best part is it's not just applicable to racing but the big picture as well. I love the racing stories but throwing in a lesson about life now and then is cool too. Pedal to the metal!

I always liked Jimmie Johnson but that was about it… He was always the driver I never cared if he won or lost. As we know, that’s a terrible place to be with fans. As Dale Sr. Once said “cheer me or boo me, just don’t be silent for me” and that’s where JJ sat with most fans, they were silent.

Jimmie Johnson wasn’t a fan favorite because he won too much, made Nascar boring knowing nobody could beat him for so many years.

Precisely why we love the Earnhardts so dearly. Thanks guys great convo. Harvick as well, always respected his drive and attitude. He don't take crap from anyone.
