In all honesty, the runner was safe, big cats like the mountain lion are timid and usually avoid confrontation, so it was simply hiding, it's what they do best, when you go for a walk in the woods where these cats live, they may be watching you at all times and you'll never know.

That was an Australian magpie (aka Cracticus tibicen), just grabbing some food (the wolf spider) to take home to the kiddies :) Our magpies here in AU are quite formidable scavengers. They're also VERY defensive of their nests in mating season (spring). If you've ever been swooped by one, you'll know all about that - like the bloke on his bike at 2:48...

I came to the realisation that most people dont fear crocodiles as much as other animals. I am terrified of the idea that something is under water patiently waiting for you to step in. I dont understand people who feel so secure in the wild without any weapons, especially in water. If I knew that there are crocs where I live, I would doublecheck the bath tub before jumping in.

Problem is, crocs are ambush predators. You don't see them 'till they grab you, and then you're either incredibly lucky or done for. Not much a weapon could do when a croc death rolls...

I love how the elephant senses the attraction of the phone and wants to know what it's about. Maybe it thinks it's bad and keeps people from being in the moment, maybe it's seeing the fascination with the device an insult that the human isn't introducing itself, maybe it thinks the phone is something amazing... truly intelligent creature.
