The many, many employees who nanny, cook, garden, guard, launder, drive, and clean MV do not live on MV. Massachusetts is known for its Yankee independence and is dead last for charitable giving, so maybe he thought they'd be cruel. I lived in MA for nearly a decade. I found "Yankees" to be very private and quite emotionally reserved, but even though I wasn't inundated with casseroles when I bought a house, those "Yankees" showed up without prompt or pay to snowblow my drive when bad weather hit. Additionally, I am persuaded that the reason they are last for charitable giving is because the Congregational church was state-sponsored in the early years and personal "ownership" was not encouraged. Dramatic, fluffy, sweetness isn't a well-known trait, but self-sufficiency is. So is kindness. And Generosity.

I swear the ONLY reason he didn't drop them off in the middle of the ocean was because of the price to find a pilot that would go through with it. The best part is that after everything, one of the smallest states in the country still proved to be better than all of Texas and Florida combined.
