Cried like a baby when I read the book many many years ago. Cried like a baby when the movie came out in 2011. And now I cried like a damn baby now. FANTASTIC STORY. FANTASTIC ACTORS!

I never stop saying how much respect I have for people who make fan edits like these. You know how to tell a story in such a short time and this one might be my favorite one of them all. 🤍 this edit has made me want to watch the actual movie on Netflix 🥲

This story makes me so emotional, and seeing it with these actors was extremely disconcerting. I’m a brown girl and I have a friend from university who is exactly like Dexter (looks, charm, bad habits, all of it - although he got a first instead of a 2.2, and is a bit more principled/ambitious). And just like this story, we’re an unlikely friendship, he’s a southerner and posher than me while I’m from further up north. We don’t really have friends in common, we’re from different groups, and nobody really gets why we’re so close - but it’s obvious to anyone who’s ever seen us together that there’s ‘something’ there. We connected one random night in the library where we talked for hours about all kinds of things. It’s like he can read my thoughts. We only need to look at each other to know what the other is thinking. When we’re together we can’t stop laughing. We have the same sense of humour. Honestly, I might be the quiet nerdy girl while he is the popular party kid, but we are so so similar. And nobody gives better hugs. When he kisses my forehead I’m completely gone. When he calls me ‘sweetheart’ or ‘my dear’ I melt completely. ‘Platonic’ indeed. I don’t know if I will ever not be in love with him. And honestly, I never even told anyone about my feelings and I thought I was so good at hiding it, but two years after graduation I was on holiday with some friends and they brought him up and they KNEW. They knew just from seeing us together. The worst part? We’re both horrible at keeping in touch. We never purposefully spend time together, it’s only by accident. We see each other every few months at best, although it’s more like once a year. And every time it’s new all over again. And I know for sure that some part of it is requited. I know he cares about me. I heard him talking about me to his friends and nothing has ever given me butterflies like that did. It still gives me butterflies. We’re approaching our mid twenties now (I was eighteen when we met) and I don’t know if I will ever not feel anything for him. But he’s so damn unreliable, he has no plan for the future, and we’re both scared of doing anything. We keep missing each other. He’s my Dexter. He’s an absolute wanker, a posh twat, but he’s MY posh twat. And beneath it all he is so, so sweet. I have never been made to feel so seen or so valued by anyone else in my entire life. I don’t know if we’ll ever get together. I don’t even know when I’ll next see him. But God, I love him so much it hurts. Every time I think I’m over it something happens to remind me of him and it’s fresh again. It’s weird, because I have so many close male friends and have never felt this way about anyone else. It’s not a crush. I have a bad habit of developing crushes overnight and burning through the dopamine in a month. That’s different. It’s not lust. Funnily enough, he’s not actually my type - and yes, everyone found him attractive and he was a bit of a womaniser at university, but I don’t fantasise about sex with him, I just fantasise about being WITH HIM. I want his forehead next to mine. I’ve been in love with this man for nearly six years now. I can never tell him that, but I know he knows. God, I’ve rambled so much. So much for dreaming of being a writer, this is one talent I don’t have in common with Emma Morley. But Tom, if you’re reading this, I adore you. With every fibre of my being I adore you. Part of me hates you for it. Tom, you’re my Dexter. No one else does it for me like you do. Trust me, I’ve tried. I’ll come to the Oxford reunions if you do, darling. And if you don’t come I’ll regret coming. When you didn’t turn up to the ball, I spent the whole night staring at strangers trying to see your face in theirs. Happy birthday for the other day, Tom. One of these days I’ll move to London and finally see you properly again.

From Scratch was a great love story on Netflix. I think this one was even better. The story, the acting, the emotion - all incredible. This series is a 10 out of 10

Realising that it is that 'one day' which I always bursted out of tears while watching, is the most lively emotion, that I have ever felt. Thank you for this masterpiece!

Just finished the show and I'm absolutely crushed. My way of coping is telling myself that the ending scene (the kissing in the stairs) is what actually happened and all the episodes were just out of Dexter's mind who imagined what would've happened if he just let her go that day..

That ending is complex, I want to believe that Dexter climbs those stairs imagining another beginning, what would have happened if he had kissed Emma. Time went back, all the kisses returned to that first kiss that could have made the story go differently.

Being a fan of the book since it was published. Read it like 10 times. Love the 2011 movie, but the series were much closer to the text, for obvious reasons. Leo has done an amazing job, the whole nerve of the story works because of him. New fan!

I saw this series on Netflix but haven't watched it yet. It looks really good and interesting. I've heard of the movie but haven't watched it either. I didn't know they're related. The actors look like they have amazing chemistry and they look really cute together.

Just finished watching the Netflix series and was taken through a rollercoaster of emotions. 💕 You put together a great edit with the music and storyline. Almost want to say for those who haven't seen the series first that this video has a spoiler unfortunately. They also have a movie made from 2011 but I don't know yet how it compares to these actors portraying Dex and Emma because they did a fantastic job.😊

I am of the age that I would have been dating in the mid-to-late 80’s. I met my spouse in 1985… but I do know that many people meet people who are complete opposites but who still attract. I can vouch for that. As a matter of fact Ambika looks like the sister of a beau I had in the late 1970’s. The relationship ended because his family wanted him to marry within his community. It ended badly. Life would have been way different had we married. My spouse also was a chance encounter - he was a friend of friends. But we were more alike than different so it worked.

Awesome edit. The acting was great but their kisses felt so flat. Like they were uncomfortable. Just tight lipped pecks. Not saying they needed 👅 lol but this wasn’t it. It distracted me watching the series. I think the film actors had more chemistry but that’s just me 🤷‍♀️
