Where do you guys live to be worried about mosquitoes laying eggs in your water?? Never heard that concern in my 48 years in Washington state.

Good morning Brandi B, Since water stays calm most of the time it attract mosquitos. They choose calm water to lay their eggs, as long as you change the water before 8 or 9 days or put special little gadget that squirt water at the surface of the water if it is big area.. you will be fine. Mosquito eggs hatches after approx 8 or 9 days.. so if you change water before that , 6 days to be sure, or you know it would evaporate before 8 days then you are fine.. The eggs dies and cant breath if it dries out.. or the water is moving... I live in a dessert climate region, mosquitos appear only in spring/ falls.. rainy season... The summer here is 44 c, 110 f.. so no mosquito nor flies lives in such hot temperature .. I put water to increase humidity level in my room, right now the humidity outside is 5%... but with big shallow plate ..33cm wide.. it increase it to 40% level given my room is big 5 by 5 meters.. which ;make air conditioning cool faster in this extreme weather and increase humidity level to 40% humidity. I measure it for fun too,. In case you don't know, The comfortable range is between 30% to 50% H, level. It is good for skin, throat, minimize germs and viruses, hospitals for example use 50%.. It is also good for furniture, my drawing paper, etc.. I have been doing it for 4 years.. so beautiful.. without the use of humidifiers which you need to clean regularly .. it is more natural and less hassle. I also put plates of water to the wild birds and feral cats that occasionally visit my garden. The weather here in summer is rough with 5% humidity, daylight, and 10 at night, and it evaporate every day though the depth is 8 cm and in the shade and partially covered to minimize the evaporation..so I worries that in the humidity season it attract them to lay their eggs.. etc.. so I make sure it dries out first before pouring more water..
