Does being an adult just mean paying bills, shallow friendships and meaningless hobbies? Realising that you're all alone in this world and nothing actually matters except making money, only to wake up and do the same stupid adult shit over and over again.

I love the last part, where jon chua mentioned that "it makes sense when you look back". This is so true and this triggers a quote I saw a long time ago, "You cant connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect the dots looking backwards, so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future".

fulfilment is about undertaking responsibility and then meeting that responsibility. starting a business and being responsible for your employees, raising a child and being responsible for another living human being. trouble is that media glorifies hedonism, and so many people have been duped into thinking life is about chasing pleasure and other transient things. that's why life loses its meaning.

I am at that stage in life where I am thankful to have a bunch of good friends who will hang out at a moment’s notice. As simple as it sounds.

My first taste of becoming an adult was studying overseas & hvg to fend for myself: laundry, paying rent & utilities, budgeting, cooking, watching my back when unlocking my apt door/walking to uni/grocery shopping, avoiding gg out after dark (5pm), nvr drinking alcohol while overseas, taking the train by sitting closest to train security in cabin nearest to driver, etc etc. To learn to survive in a foreign country all by myself was taking a leap of faith, tt I cld survive wo my family/loved ones close by. I did enjoy my overseas student days bcos it was MY decision & I was intellectually satisfied while there. I grew in many aspects while alone there: emotionally, physically & spiritually. I also got to learn tt I was made of sterner stuff bcos I was badly homesick but I refused to quit until I got my degree. In all honesty, becoming an adult didn’t suck at all for me bcos I had always been very independent even bk in sg. I was doing my laundry since 15yo (when grandpa died) n helping my granny w cooking fr e age of 4/5yo. Perhaps being born in a dysfunctional family w domestic violence made me appreciate becoming an adult more bcos I get to walk away fr the trauma of growing up w domestic violence & abuse & all e disruptiveness of tt volatility. My best student years were overseas in Sydney & I wl nvr forget those yrs & look back w fondness. I only decided to come back to sg bcos my fiance & I experienced some racism while there fr some passerby while dating@darling harbour; besides, sg food is always beckoning me to return 😂 . It really depends on how one’s childhood was like & whether adulting proceeds smoothly. I heard of some korean uni mates who got addicted to gambling at nearby casino & stole rental furniture to sell for money for food. I also heard tt some went as far as prostitution to raise tuition fees after losing their money@casino. I am glad tt I nvr had such awful adulting problems like tt. Tk God for tt! 😅🙏

You can have a 9-5 corporate job, and still a meaningful life. It is what you choose to do with your time that counts, either during your pursuit of career success or your time away from work.

You forgot to mention that insurance companies refuse to sell hospitalization insurance to those who have a pre-existing condition, even if you are willing to exclude that illness or even have fully recovered from that illness.

I feel that some people avoid insurance because they don’t understand it. Some agents enjoy educating their clients before recommending insurance plans, but some will go straight to recommending insurance plans with the idea that “more is better than less”. Generally in Singapore, the hospitalisation insurance annual premiums increases with age yearly. The upsides of buying early is that you are healthy and insurable. Whereas for wholelife, investment-link and term personal insurance plans that covers for critical illness, death, total permanent disability, the annual premiums is usually fixed for the rest of your life based on your age of purchase. Always read the contract before you sign for any insurance plans! It is document that legally binds your entitlement to the insurance company

For me being an adult but still on a state of perpetual limbo is the worst state to be in, sure you can have a job, but if there are no definite direction or motivation to reach a life goal, thats a bad precedent and you better think of something to straighten you life asap. I know workmates that fell in an eternal routine of sleep-eat-work-pay monthly bills then rinse and repeat. They staying single not even an active sex life, they do the occasional office partying and friend outside work activities but thats about it. If these kind of people feel "fulfilled" on these daily setup I honestly say that is a short term fulfilment.

Long distance relationship be like sheltered walkways too high to shelter you. But the shelter still present just not as useful. 🤣🤣🤣 From my point of view, it feels like this 😂 LDR for 3.5years already. I go dinners alone, cinema alone, hospital check ups alone, clinic alone. Only watch anime not alone 😂

I think actually the opposite -- if you do lots of things life seems to pass by more slowly and is more memorable. It's when you don't do anything that life seems to flash by.

Is Adulting boring? It is just a PoV or a Frame of ref in time, also how a person define the term Adulting differs. I can affirm JP's " where " Why insurance is important Learning about Insurance as an Adult This is I wish I learnt this in school just cos every time I have to go to the hospital I keep thinking about the bills. When did you first feel like an Adult I still don't Do you 'adult' faster in a relationship? One of my partners I dated told me... It's a long story... every partner has their own views and stages of why they want a r/s also it can be a wrong time right person or some other conditions that either make it or break it Having fun as an Adult vs as a Kid Yea I stan Dan I cannot fathom the clubbing thing then, and now still don't. I prefer places to sit n chill n H2H prefer gaming too. Adulting quotes So far I only got 2 to date. "Life's simple , you make choices and you don't look back." - Han “If you expect disappointment, then you can never really be disappointed.” - MJ Works out so far. Cynical ? maybe...

As we age, we slowly get wiser, in which we get to be more pragmatic and practical in life. Despite what many Millennials and Gen Zs say of today's generation of change, career first and single empowerment, a person will eventually feel their longing to be with someone. Physical standards once set to be seen as "desirable" can now be compromised and lenient in favor of personality and capability to handle finances and life challenges There are people I know that set an absurdly high standard in women, but eventually when they reached their 30's and still remained single, they now longs for a woman who are professional and with good personality...even if they not absolutely pretty and sexy because all they desire is to start a family.
