Hi there. I am an American and live in the United States. There is a man who's call the Cat Daddy his name is Jackson Galaxy and he is a cat therapist. He has come across similar conditions like this and it is called ' pica ' . They don't know why it happens but it can be treated. Jackson is on the youtube and is on Animal planet. I don't know if he does international work but if you need his help he would be happy to help a cat in need. I hope Tan doesn't get into any more trouble or have anymore episodes. I love that cat. I really, REALLY don't think you can give your pets "too much" love! There are 2 situations that may be a bit like that tho: 1) If your pet's scared of, say, thunder, don't make a huge fuss over them or they'll think there really IS something to be scared of. 2) If your pet's doing something you don't want them to- but they're NOT hurting themselves, like Tan could've if he ate bits of mat- then don't reward them with attention. My cat used to smack my face cos he wanted breakfast :D & I NEVER got up when he did that- I'd wait til he'd sat quietly for a bit, then get up. Then he started licking my nose instead, & if it's a reasonable hour, I DO get up when he does that- & what does he do now? Yep, licks my nose. And I don't feed him immediately when I get up either- I think that's a good idea.
