My observations: there are people who are not only prone to lying, also manipulative, no care for hurting innocent people (eg the innocent policemen) to bolster her case or self interests. Raeesah was the person who voluntarily brought up the fact during the DP that she might have been suffering from symptoms of PTSD like dissociation to explain why she lied . If anything, the evidence of this psychiatrist should be unfavourable to Raeesah and not Pritam and the rest of the WP leadership who merely recorded whatever Raeesah told them during the DP which has obviously been proven to be untrue (and possibly lies again). Pritam should not be demonized for merely presenting to the committee whatever Raeesah had told them during the DP.

I would prefer a psychiatrist from an independent source and not one from the gov's payroll to make an objective assessment on the liar

Strip away all the distractions, obfuscation and word play, the crux of the matter is this: Pritam Singh, Faisal and Sylvia Lim have failed miserably in their duties as MPs. No amount of clever lawyering and playing with words before the COP can exonerate Pritam et al. They are equally guilty of deceiving Parliament by their flagrant acquiesce and omission to tell the truth. This is clearly a material misconduct on all 3 of them by any definition.

It is clear that when WP MP Dennis Tan asked all the questions, they were skewed towards the WP leadership (trying as much as possible to toe the line) with a degree of bias. So what is the difference when some accused the PAP MPs of being biased when questioning the WP leadership? As for the 2nd lie made by RK in October, the reason why she had lied the 2nd time was to continue "the narrative" as was prompted by the WP leader. While she was making her speech, she was anxiously waiting for an answer (from her mobile) from her leader which, unfortunately, was not forthcoming and hence made the 2nd lie to maintain the narrative and thereby, most probably, "take the lie to the grave". One could easily notice that RK was rather spontaneous (without having to pause and think for all her answers) in her answers to all the questions posed to her. Assuming when a person is lying, the testimonies would not have been at all spontaneous. As the testimony by Dr Cheok, the WP Leadership cannot say he is biased, as they had requested for it, claiming that she most likely suffer from an unsound mind and requested Parliament to put her through a Psychiatric test. The leader also claimed that he could not get anything out (when he was trying to talk to her) from her as she was continuously bawling (crying) away which she vehemently denied. In the entirety of the whole episode, we were made to wonder, who committed the most lies? The inclination to believe RK after her admission to her lies(twice) is more plausible as she was feeling remorseful with her grave mistakes which she has to live with the rest of her life. Furthermore, when the leader said that every MP in their stable, is a leader in their own right and therefore, is responsible for their actions ( which is supposedly a defensive stance, after having told RK to maintain the narrative and perhaps take it to the grave). Of course, everyone has their own opinion (which stand respected), bias or otherwise, however, let the truth be told with everything that had transpired.

He has not come across this disassociative problem. So he should not talk about this.

30:00 I feel that Dr Cheok's diagnosis isn't concrete enough. Seems a bit suppositional. So we have RK's own psychiatrist diagnosing RK with PTSD (as claimed by RK) and we have Dr Cheok diagnosis of RK not suffering from PTSD. Either way, RK has drafted a false anecdote in her parliament speech, she has decided go against PS's advice and bring up that anecdote in her speech without substantiation. Its quite clear to me that RK should bear the full responsibility of lying in parliament whatever the outcome of the diagnosis.

So that incidence in 2008 should not be used as an excuse of lying in Parliament.

24:25 Dr Cheok's (though he is a qualified psychiatrist) timeline of assessment is post-October sitting (inclusive of 4 October, in particular). All the evidence he has to make his assessment is the Parliament recording for Oct, RK's COP hearings filmed in December and his two meetings with her recently. His findings/ assessment may be accurate, but his finding/ assessment is irrelevant to the COP's role or investigation. RK cites, during the DP held in Oct/ Nov, PTSD/ Dissociation as possible reasons for why she lied during the October sitting. It is also an erroneous point of contention - as embellished by our mainstream media that WP/ PS is weaponising RK's mental state to discredit her. PS never used it to discredit her but he was, in his COP hearing, answering ET's question for a suggestion of a reason for why RK would be giving a different recount of events. PS only brings this up because RK first brought it up during the DP. As such, I am truly baffled by why Dr Cheok was even brought in and how our mainstream media is framing Dr Cheok's testimony. How does this further the COP's investigation? I guess it proves that RK citation of PTSD/ Dissociation as a possible reason for her lie(s) is not valid. In other words, she lied on her volition. Sanity has nothing to do with honesty. There was and has not been a robust enough investigation (to date) into the specifics of what was said in the 8 Aug and 3 Oct meeting RK had with WP leaders.

Why didn't they call up her own doctor?

the psychiatrist never see what medication RK is taking , it could influence how she is behaving without medication and thus not showing any symptoms for him to do a proper diagnosis. I don't believe that by interviewing the husband and RK herself and watching videos, the psychiatrist can get the whole truth of how RK behaves in private and a proper diagnosis can be arrived especially she is taking medication to control.

Alot of assumptions after only 2 sessions w her...is it deemed sufficient? Mere looking at the video to conclude ? Why didn't COP invite her own psychiatrist to testify, who has indicated that she has symptom of dissociation ? Ironically isn't it Ms Khan is the one raising her ailment in the DP & then turnaround to say she is now perfectly fine ? Then why raise it in the 1st place. There must be reason for her psychiatrist, Ms Joanna Lee to conclude as such for purpose of impartiality in the proceeding. And COP asking Ms Khan whether she feels she has this problem as akin to asking a thief if he has steal or not. Just my 2cts opinion. And I feel Edward Tong line of questioning is like a trying a gotcha....if Ms Khan is a lady of principle, she should hv own up to her own actions, nobody can force her to say what she wants to say in parliament. I think to be fair, a fever is a symptom as well. It could mean many things. Fever could be due to anxiety or cancer or flu or something more serious. However, when a layman hear that someone has a fever, a layman will take precautionary measures

Seeing a patient/ client TWO times isn’t sufficient for a therapist to make a diagnosis or assessment. Any psychologist or psychiatrist worth their salt would have refused to make this statement unless they’ve had an ongoing relationship with the patient/client prior.

Mr. Dennis Tan - what happened to your impartiality? Your questions are loaded with hidden agendas and were not intended to demystify or clear the suggestions of diminished mental responsibility. Instead you tried every means to generalised normal human behaviour to fit into your belief that there is a case for diminished responsibility. Dr. Cheok had already given you his learned opinion and very patient with you. Instead you tried to get him to support your cause and for him to abandon his impartiality. Tan Chuan Jin really lost all my respect at 1:27:40. I get the feeling that he is trying to shape the narrative somehow, and worst when he brings in a real issue about "mental health stigmatisation" to advance a certain narrative. I think Dr Cheok made at least one important wrong assumption that was not addressed and picked up by the committee. Based on published accounts so far the word "substantiate" appeared to be written on the anecdote (the lie) after it was inserted by RK; the wrong timeline assumption by Dr Cheok seem to suggest the opposite and that RK was under pressure to lie and make up the anecdote due to the substantiation request.
