I would put him as a mix between Thomas Edison and a bit of Nikolai Tesla. I concur 100%. The heat shield needs to move away from individual tiles altogether. I envisage some kind of sleeve to fit over the entire vessel. That would also provide other benefits like slowing down loaded propellant from heating up and reducing the criticality of ship orientation during an atmospheric re-entry.

Stainless steel, not aluminium structure. But yeah, it’s an issue for rapid re-usability. Mostly being identical is advantage over shuttle. Why even have pointy nose? Use disposable fairing instead. Could carry spare tiles, fix them on spacewalk by Optimus or mini-bot. ;-)

The shuttle tile failure was due to insulation coming off and striking the wing, so Starship has no such issue. It's only a matter of keeping them on the ship during launch and reentry. But technology has changed since the shuttle design some 50 years ago, so expect this will be a non-issue quickly.

That's why we need the 18 meter lifter.thats the minimum size where the cube square law kicks in and it becomes M U C H easier to engineer a reentry.
