I love, love, love your home! Yes, I said home, not house, because I believe a house is just a building where people live without caring or being invested, but a home is a place full of love, caring and sharing! THIS is a HOME!

The number one list item to building the perfect home is a loving happy family, where a one room log cabin can be "that perfect place" .That said we can "check that box off for the happy family" . It's the "Kitchen Pantry" connected to the garage I find an outstanding idea. I would bet it took 10 years and hundreds of trips lugging groceries though the house to come up with that idea and a good one it is.

Congratulations on your new home! It's beautiful. You are going to have so much fun decorating and figuring out where things go.

You have done a wonderful job designing and building your home? It is truly awesome. Simply love all your power outlets and light switches as well as the nest. There is nothing I don't like or would change. For six people, the footprint is brilliant, you will all be able find space for contemplation instead of being on top of each other. I sincerely hope you will both have many, many years to enjoy your gorgeous home, watching your children grow and transition through the various stages of their lives and welcoming their families.

The house is crooked in that square of land. Am I the only one that noticed or did anyone else see?! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOME, I LOVE THE HARDWOOD FLOORS AND THE RICH WHITE. IT MAKES IT LOOKS RICH AND CLEAN. I GREW UP IN A 24000 SQF HOME ON A LAKE. AND IT ALSO HAD SOMEWHAT OF A A FRAME FRONT WINDOW BUT ACTUALLY IT WAS A BARN SHAPE. FOR OUR CHRISTMAS TREE'S WE WOULD GO WALK INTO THE WOODS AND CUT DOWN OUR OWN TREE.. WE HAD A 18 FOOT, 16 FOOD AND A 14 FOOT TREE. ILL NEVER FORGET IT. AND THE NEW SMELL OF IT! THE WOOD AND CARPET. LOVE IT. CONGRATS

You have a beautiful home! My late husband and I had people staying with us in our apartment. He was a rescuer, he wanted to start a shelter, to help people. We never had the money, we rescued cats instead. They were much cheaper to rescue. People don't always want to help you financially even though you feed them. Cute! One thing if you flipped the right door to your master bath when they close it would make a star/snowflake shape with the wood work. That could be super cute.

The house is SOOO Lovely. I brought my husband to the computer, to see it. WE JUST LOVE IT! Fabulous job! So worth it all. The only thing I would change is a gas stove ( I do a lot of canning). You have a Costco, too. I cant say enough about how great this all is.

I LOVE your house! This might seem like a strange thing, but one of the things that I love most about your house is how many electrical outlets y’all have! I live in a very old farmhouse (in south central Pennsylvania) and there are definitely not enough electrical outlets in my house. I also absolutely love the sliding barn doors and the large pantry! Beautiful house!

i think you should do option 1 for the tree one year, and then try option 2 for another year just to test out both areas to see which would look best for the tree. and OMG I love those CLOSETS!!! and that master bathroom, and the kitchen...I love everything about this house! I would put up multiple trees in the wide area next to the fireplace. Say three trees that are 4ft, 7ft and 10ft. This way as you stand them side by side with the small one in the middle it could mimic the Alaskan woods. I believe it would be beautiful and you could even do a northern lights theme. I have been geeking out on UKposts for the last few days over the building process of my DREAM HOME/Business. I am in the process of building on 90 acre property and I'm driving everyone crazy about ICF vs Timber, Geothermal, Solar, Wind Turbines, and all the "boring" parts of building. Mike Holmes is on constant replay and trying to explain the importance of building a home and spending more on the things that won't seen seems crazy to some of my friends. I designed much of the placement of my layout thinking about holiday decorations such as Christmas trees and life events such a seeing my kids (that I don't have yet) come down the stairs to take pictures for prom. I want my house for myself and my future kids, but I also want to run a business out of it so thanks for the suggestion of the Heat Recovery Ventilator and the fire place. Wisconsin ain't as cold as Alaska, but it can get pretty cold and losing power in the middle of nowhere during ice storms is not fun.

Y'all have built a beautiful home with so many special details. So well thought through and I love the fact the pantry is off the garage...how great that will be in the winter especially. A little hint on the pantry...line up your canned goods in alphabetical order, vegetables on one shelf and fruit on the other. Baking supplies together in one spot also cereals in one spot. Then when grocery shopping you can look at a glance as you leave for the store what you are low on or what you are out of completely. Anyone can help put the groceries away because they are always in the same place. This is something I did when I was in school food service because we had to take inventory once a month and the sheets were in alphabetical order. Feeding 250 to 300 children a day was a lot of food. Can you just imagine how long that chore would take if everything were put in just any spot on a shelf. Well worth the effort now as you begin to stock these empty shelves. Months later, I'm so happy for ya'll. Your journey and the feels, knowing it's done and it's super close to all that you wanted, with things that can be tweaked if/when needed, that's the best way to be/think of things. I'm so grateful to your journey, as well as your gracious minds to share your home plans, let alone the journey of creating such a masterpiece! It's a work of art. My boyfriend and I are saving up for our home, renting a fairly cheap place in PA (9/11 crash site area...just commented on the Q&A earlier) to get our savings up. We are much like ya'll, just without the little ones. I like the aesthetics, but I do also like the functionality and saving money down the road (like the heating aspect ya'll did with that fireplace). The man of the house likes the technical stuff like "fireplace helps with heat" "double pane windows" type thing (with winters less harsh than ya'll, triple is a bit much, but we're still figuring out where to plant ourselves come getting our home...we're planning on staying in the lower 48). I'll definitely have ya'll on a loop once we get serious about the house! Ya'll are too good! May this house be a blessing for ya'll and all the best memories outweigh the cost of it!
