1985: First contest broadcast entirely via satellite. The terrestrial network was slowly discontinued and dismantled. 1988: First computer-generated scoreboard, instead of a mechanical one. 1991: First time a unified Germany participates. 1992: Last time Tito's Yugoslavia takes part. 1993: The OIRT (the Eastern Bloc equivalent of the EBU) is dissolved, and most of its member states instead join the EBU. 1993: Last time the Eurovision starburst card is shown on screen at the beginning and end of the Eurovision exchange. From 1994, we instead had the animated sequence showing a grey-scale globe and the three blue arrows. 1996: First use of Ultimatte/blue screen effect during the voting. The hostess, Ingvild Bryn, was standing on a blue floor and against a blue background, and scoreboard+other graphics were superimposed on the picture. 1997: Third time in three years that the Point Theatre in Dublin hosts the contest (1994, 1995, 1997). Overall, it's the fourth time in as many years that Ireland host the contest (1993, 1994, 1995, 1997). 1998: First year that the country name appears in the bottom left corner on the screen during songs. 2001: A record-breaking 38,000 people in the audience. 2004: First year with a semi-final. (Two semi-finals came in 2008.)

Some firsts that I also thought of and I don't think they have appeared below -While the clip was shown, it wasn't mentioned that The Netherlands in 1957 became the first country to recieve (at least officialy) any points. -Also that same clip shows that The Netherlands became the first country that recieved the highest amount of points from any country* -Switzerland became the first country to give any points -United Kingdom became the first country to withdraw and then to return to contest -ESC 1971 was the first time the contest returned to the same venue it was held before (Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France) -Morocco became the first country to withdraw but have never returned (as for 2023) -Serbia & Montenegro became the first country that qualified from Semifinal -Greece was the first country (since the introduction of SF) that won but didn't participate in Semifinal (and it's the only one to do so while not being a part of big 4/5 or host country) -Ukraine became the first country to qualify from the 2nd Semifinal -2009 was the first year that a 2nd Semifinal qualifier won the contest -San Marino in 2014 became the first micro nation to qualify from Semifinal -In 2016 was the first time that any country (Czechia in that case) recieved officially 0 points (as in announced that they recieved 0 points) *It doesn't equall the first highest score, since in 1957-1961 the voting system gave each country 10 points to distribute it as they want. So one country could give max 7 points to one country, and other max 3. If we're talking about the first time any country recieved the highest score in their voting system, which was the same among any other voting country, it would be the three points given by Monaco to Luxembourg. Fun fact- both swiss 7 for The Netherlands and monegasque 3 for Luxembourg were the first points given in their respective nights
