Not everyone are builders. I personally am the type of person who prefer to use the original homes on the lot and spent more time on CAS and gameplay. Empty house and and carbon copy house is a sign of laziness. I have no idea why some people keep on defending this kind of bad behavior. She made a realistic complain, that's it.

I don't understand how you guys don't get where she's coming from. People aren't paying $20 for a lack of effort. They didn't have to carbon copy the WORST base game house. And she's not bashing the whole pack or the neighbourhood ....just that house. Also she asserted that she only looked at build mode.

I know she sounds really nitpicky here but in her defense, EA does look really lazy. Like she said they want $20 for a pack of basically the same things we've already bought six other times.

Things that could have been better than empty houses: -Houses with every object in the exact same colour -Having a painting that is started yet no sims on the lot that could have started it -Giving each room a different primary colour -Not using the same kind of window twice -Having much more bedrooms or bathrooms than necessary -Having more than one kitchen -Putting sink in every single room (for sims that can't stand not washing their hands lol) -Using swimming pools inside of each room -Unexpected items (e.g a teddy bear in the bathroom) -Putting teddy bears in every rooms (or any kind of object like that) -Clocks everywhere!! -Having a fully black and white house but with ONE coloured object in it -Hiding a grave somewhere in the house where it's unexpected -Weird mix of rooms (e.g instead of a kitchen/living room make a living room/bathroom or a kitchen/bedroom in a big mansion) Feel free to add on the list!! So many things are much more mysterious than lack of furnitures!

GUYS you have to pay $20 for this pack. That is ABSURD. I know a lot of Sims players that personally don’t play many other games but I promise you other games do NOT charge as much as the sims for such little content. Seriously it is an outright scam. In total, for the base game plus ALL expansions, game packs, and stuff packs that’s a $580 game. Think about that. NO other game costs that much to have all the features, EA is known for their ridiculousness when it comes to charging consumers more money than anyone else. Modders make game mods, CAS mods, and build mods for FREE, and if they can do it as quickly and effectively as they do for FREE(I realize some modders get paid for this BUT we get the content for free), then so can the people at EA doing it for money. It’s not just Strangerville that feels lackluster, all of the EA builds are terrible, I don’t know why they don’t have people like deligracy, lilsimsie, or simkim not building the houses that go into the packs. It’s always seemed odd to me that the people that make the game don’t build very good houses compared to things we’ve seen from many youtubers. My point being, I’m glad Kayla is ranting about this pack especially as a game changer, the other game changers I watch rarely have anything negative to say about packs even though there is plenty wrong with them. The developers need to step it up. We shouldn’t be investing THAT much money into something that feels so poorly made. Extra note here’s what the actual realistic prices SHOULD be for new content: Stuff packs: free, seriously it’s like 10-12 build items a few new clothes and maybe a new hair it’s not worth $10 when it took them maybe 2 hours to make Game packs: $10, something actually semi valuable, they add new clothes a few new build items and occasionally some really good gameplay Expansion packs: $20 these are the biggest and most impressive packs so they are worth something but certainly NOT $40 Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Strangerville, in general, is DEFINITELY not worth what it costs. The starter-home sucks. The houses are empty, and the mystery of Strangerville SUCKS. I finished the mission of Strangerville in 2 hours. 2 hours of gameplay for 25$! Overall, this pack really sucks and it is not worth its price tag.

I've never cared too much that EA provided lots are largely empty, as I never really move a sim into a house and just expect to start playing. Generally I delete most things anyway and re-furnish to my liking. I get the annoyance over play testing though, that's just frustrating when stuff like that should be working. I've always thought if sims players like yourself or say Deligracy or The Sim Supply are able to get and mess with packs ahead of time, maybe they need to bring you guys in for builds before things are finalized for a drop. That would honestly give them much more unique, creative builds from people that actually play the game on a more frequent basis. Give you guys a time limit, or a simoleon budget limit, and then what we have at the end of that is what goes in game. It would give them time to focus on the actual nitty gritty of creating the pack/expansion. (Amazing you can blast out a house like that in under 15 minutes, as building takes me hours.)

Every time I talked to that dude he was uncomfortable and resisted all attempts to lighten his mood. Okay am i the only one feeling that the gameplay way of collecting evidence, pictures, etc in strangerville about 600 times better than get to work's police job? Like i literally feel like i got robbed as this 20 dollar pack is way worth it than get to work (granted get to work has way more things to do, but this pack literally feels so much smoother gameplay wise on the whole detective thing)

as far as empty houses go, in the sims 3 there were several houses that were not furnished bc its more realistic to move into an empty ohuse in the real world so I don't mind empty builds. I think thats something the sims 4 kind of lacks that every pre-built lot is also furnished

EA has been trying me since Sims 4 came out. There's all kinds of cut corners and cheap builds and glitches (that have been there for years, and they still haven't fixed it). EA is just about taking your money with as little effort as possible on their side.

Strangerville is still one of my favorite pack in The Sims 4. I love the vibe of this town. But you are right. And the laziness you noticed is not just about this pack. For example, often creators come up with amazing stories for sims and relationships with other sims and when you start playing them it turns out that these sims technically don't even have any relationship and many other small issue that you can fixed really quickly but is not your job to fix the game by your own. You pay for that product.

I'm 100% sure they literally do not care about building houses or build mode at all. The see that there are people who rebuild houses and most of the players just download those. Y'all builders are technically doing their job for them and they pay you with early access and sims camp. 🤷🏽‍♀️

To be quite honest, I don't really care about the builds in new worlds since I tend to replace them with ones from the gallery anyways. I see where you're coming from though.

Just thought id say, at least in Nevada (so im assuming its common in the desert-y states) the archway between a master bathroom and a master bedroom is actually quite common. I find it in most middle cost range to high cost range houses out there.

One of the developers did explain the fruit bowl mistake. I can't remember exactly what he said. One of the other departments after it was built and play tested, moved it to do something and then it slipped through the net and not moved back to it's original place

I get your complaints. But personally I consider myself a “renovator” I like to take the sims builds and redecorate the whole thing and move some internal walls around. So I have no problem with this style room for my gameplay. But this is straight up lazy. Like who releases a house like that.
