Isn't VOO and VUG similar in the sense both are investing in the S&P 500? What is the difference? I thought it is generally advised against to invest in multiple ETFs or Mutual Funds?

There is 55% overlap with the holdings in VOO and VUG. 1 is tech heavy and the other is financials heavy similar, but not the same. VOO tracks the S&P 500; VUG is just focused on large cap growth stocks. VUG is a bit more volatile, but with a higher upside potential. VOO is a bit safer. I’ve never heard anyone advise against multiple ETFs/mutual funds. You just have to be aware of overlap. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

It's impossible to know exactly when it will dip and if you just hold your money forever, you are missing out on compound interest. A tactic like dollar cost average will probably serve you right while investing in the long term, but you also have to do a lot of research by yourself. Investing in the stock market is very, very time consuming, it's almost a full time job and it requires nerves of steel. A popular strategy lately has been to chuck your money into an index fund like the S&P500 with dollar cost average, so save up a portion of your salary every month and invest it periodically. You buy the stock through the ups and downs, but specially the downs and in a few decades you can become very wealthy.

Well, if I'm being honest if you have a family member who has experience on stocks you can ask them, as they would know every nook and cranny. All I can advice you now is to save up money. I managed to save up £2000 in 2 years. I can only thank my parents for that. You should have enough capital to start with.

Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others. As an investor, you should've known that by now that nothing beats experience and that's final. Personally I had to reach out to a stock expert for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to $35k, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I'm buying again.

It's always a good time to invest. Just use options to lower your cost basis. Write a puts on a stock you would want to own, eventually you'll lose on the trade and instead of closing the position, you allow it to be exercised. Where you will then be assigned to buy 100 shares. Then, you can hold these shares while selling covered calls. If you do this conservatively and set your orders properly, this strategy can't really lose much. I also can't stress enough how useful day or swing trading micro sized equity futures can be. I can short sell or buy 1 contract of micro DOW (mym) and it's worth .50c per point the dow moves per contract. One can use futures to hedge against losses on options or stock.

Yeah, more reason I enjoy my day to day market decisions is that i'm being guided by a portfolio-coach, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downtrends, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis, it's quite impossible not to outperform. Netted over $1.5m in return on investment, since using a coach 2years and counting.

I've shuffled through investment coaches and yes, they can be positively impactful to an individual's portfolio, but do your due diligence to find a coach with grit, one that withstood the 08' crash. For me, ''HEATHER LEE LARIONI'' turned out to be better and smarter than all the advisors I ever worked with till date, I’ve never met anyone with as much conviction.

As a newbie about to invest, you must have these three things in mind 1. Have a long term mindset. 2. Be willing to take risk. 3. Be careful on money usage, if you're not spending to earn back, then stop spending. 4. Never claim to know - Ask questions and it's best you work with a financial advisor.

I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.
