@Rachael Shayna Nelson I think that’s exactly what they are teaching them is to live apart. Instead of all sleeping and living in one house. They each have their own space “apart” from the house. They were taught how to design and build their own place. They will be responsible for taking care of their own space. They will be more prepared than most kids to live on their own. They will be able to do their own repairs when needed. Repurposing the things the have instead of throwing away and buying new. This is teaching them to save money I feel those children will do very well in life.

I so agree ! As things grow theyre only as good as their foundation & this is so very evident with these awesome parents & that they wkd with their kids from the beginning imparting knowledge & great love for each other thru example. The parents both have exceptional construction knowledge & l just wonder how many many projects they did together br now,ALOT. I have never watched an entire anything created ..til now. OMG!! I so loved this! I cried at times, for the love of this family doing this all together! My childhood was nothing like this, I was abused in my childhood so I spent my time surviving, so to see this was so heart warming how you all are such a family unit and did not do a half assed job even though it was just for one child. Each worked on this as if it was their own. And what life skills you have taught your children doing this! And the comedic commentary awesome! OMG I just love this! hahah can yeah tell!? lol Thank you for sharing this!

I don't know of any parents who force their "kids away from them". If your in your 30's with no job and no ambition, then yeah "get out" and grow up. You are not a kid but a grown adult. I personally think every child should grow up to be independent whether you living at home or on your own. Don't depend on your parents your whole life.

I loved the family working together and so much laughter...Many years ago when I was about eight years old our father lost his job and his health and we didn't have a house we could afford. So he found an old house that was being torn down and salvaged wood from it and a lot of nails which I got to work at making them straight again so we could have enough nails...Eight of us children lived there with our dad for a number of years until he had to go back to the hospital sanitorium for tuberculosis...Bologna sandwiches and water for lunch was a great treat...I wish my dad was still with us would love to do it all over again...It's all about family and friends...Our father's prayers helped him to be able to keep all his children together...

I hear and read of Super Rich Celebrities and Millionaires and their controversial lives and scandals in tabloids and social media. They're addicted to drugs, are alcoholics. They're in relationships after relationships. They end up abused or victimized by the media, by the execs that wring money out of them and of those around them, even their families because they're after their wealth and fame. They can't find love. They don't know who to trust that they turn to substances. They don't know how to treat people for who they are because they are not taught and are not in meaningful relationships. We just have to be grateful for what we have and make the most out of them. Health is wealth. Friends are treasures. Life is precious. Rich is the home with family in it. Your family are your gems. Children are gifts. Knowledge is power. Wisdom is priceless. You struck gold finding that someone to love. And what a fortune! it is to be loved back. Truly what is there to ask for?

I watched a few of these type of builds and have literally been blown away. But I speak to the parents for this comment. I don’t have children myself, but I got a whole lotta nephews, great nephews, nieces and great nieces in the tune of 30+ and still coming. Ya, holidays are tough but they are “ALL” worth it. Never the less, you as parents (in addition to the other channels that I have watched) have not only taught but proved to every one of your brood how important FAMILY really is. What they have learned cannot be taught in school or anywhere else in fact. This comes from the heart of a family. You, Mother and Father; this is your legacy! Your children will teach theirs, and their children will show them! It goes on and on. Be proud; of not just this “build” but what you have built for generations to come! My hat off to both of you! I am honored to have seen your video and thank you from the bottom of my heart! avb

This is the greatest gift the parents can teach their kids you wouldn't get in a school. Cooperative and shared work. Working as a family and building for each other lending their skills, talents and solution based attitudes. Building their own bedrooms and building on their family bond. I hope other family's will be inspired to do something similar.

Without a DOUBT the absolute COOLEST FAMILY I have ever seen! You all clearly love each other to pieces, have INCREDIBLE kids who actually understand the meaning of building something with their own two hands and don't mind doing it because ya'll make it fun. You may be killing yourselves when the camera is off but I doubt it, to me you can tell you guys are close, close, close and I just love that! Kudos Mom and Dad for raising an amazing bunch of kids! I don't understand though why you didn't bring in some heavy equipment to at least dig the holes, ugh! That's a whole lotta work just doing the bags, let alone the digging, ugh..good job though guys, all of you should be very proud of yourselves!

Growing up my father taught me to work with my hands, my mother taught me to cook. I miss them both since they’re gone but I’ll never forget the lessons I learned growing up. I am still passing them on to my kids. It was really heartwarming to see those values are still alive and well in others today. Great bedrooms for and designed by each kid. 🙂

I grew up the same way. We never hired anyone to do repairs or work on our house. We always had home cooked meals and desserts. I raised my children the same way. They are grown and have kids of their own now. I love to teach my grandchildren how to do things so will have knowledge of basic skills. Kids and young adults today don’t know how to fix anything, they are lucky if they know how to change a lightbulb. The money I see them spend on things they could easily do themselves, like hiring a painter to paint a room. I would never think of paying someone a couple hundred dollars to paint. But I never really had the money to do that. Teach your children all you know they will appreciate it and so will their friends because they will be calling to ask how to do things.

Some parents don't even let their kids close their bedroom doors but these parents are giving them their own space yet, they are doing everything together. Is just a beautiful way to live your lives.
