Heads up for anyone purchasing Angela's course - it's pretty out of date at this point, everything refers to 2020 tech, but it's still a great course. I'm redoing my backend learning with it, but you'll have to figure out how to handle certain things on your own, because the videos won't show the right solutions. It's fine tho, and good practice.

I've recently started learning Python and found your videos. I'm a subscriber but I'm not able to follow everything you mention. I'm interested in learning full stack. I have a project already planned to recreate an existing old web app written in Perl. that has a MySQL backend. It works but is outdated and not too secure by today's standards. Can you provide a single detailed roadmap I can use? I don't need tons of options, just one solid roadmap that helps me create a prototype I can demo for a client.

Question? Why do many recommend Python for the back end when most industries require Java, C#, PHP or even Ruby? Python is rarely posted on indeed for what employers are looking for and I live in the largest city in the world. I mostly see Python job posting listed in three categories, Data Science, DevOps and finally as a secondary or third language to complement another technology. I ask merely out of curiosity, not out of a need to debate or prove a point like some do but for the sole purpose to gain a better understanding from experienced people, thank you once again for the video.

@@zhangliyi I live in New York City and it’s true I myself see few jobs with PHP. But when you google PHP it says 77.8% of all sites run on PHP. Which is why I posted this question. Also, I don’t see Python back end jobs being posted, they are mostly Java.

@@DevlogBill Java and PHP are relevant because of legacy code written long ago by big techs when these two were the best technologies. C# is used by banks and enterprise (similarities to Java -- most of bank and enterprise code is years behind the current tech standard). Ruby despite being great is dead due to bad support for ML libraries. Django is mostly used by small to medium start ups (same with JS). Go is also a great option and rising fast. about Python backend -- UKposts, Instagram, Netflix, Spotify, etc use it for backend idk why are you not finding django job postings. I am from India and tech companies here are stuck in a decade ago more than 70% using Java, still I see lots and lots of Django postings here (3rd highest after Java, C# for backend roles).

I am an HVAC engineer and this is boring as it can be. You are tied up to a specific place, you can't work remote, you have to be part of a group of people with physical interaction all the time and the problems you have to solve are usually stupid (because you don't solve real problems, you create some fake marketed stuff and make it look like it's something good).. Cause I had seen a lot of videos of work flow but then you have other of backend and if you just want to make an app without XCode or Android Studio it´s crazy the amount of things you have to do and know to make it true, and I don´t know where to start.

I get the idea about something being easy, but does that really serve a purpose? My question would be, isn't more important to define your end goal? Because once you define your end goal then your able to make a better informed decision. For example if you want to become a mobile developer. Yes you could learn Python. But can you make mobile apps with Python? Yes you probably could. But does the industry use Python for making mobile app? Do you see where I am getting at? I think this is bad advice only for those who are trying to become professional developers. Yes you can learn your fundamentals with Python but you can also learn your fundamentals with Kotlin or Swift as well or even JavaScript for web. These other languages aren't that bad for beginners. I just think people fail to understand why they want to learn something versus just to learn.

7:40 This like the worst advice ever How are you a back end eng if you didn’t build the backend at all No Authentication or Authorization No ORM at least for DB conn. Didn’t build your own API At this point why are you even hired then??? There are other issues sure but you are still learning are you not gonna pick any of them ??? Is knowing syntax of a framework became the goal these days ?,?

i think it’s terrible advice to build your own authentication layer, that’s so risky - it’s important to understand these ideas but to use the best-in-class existing systems - being a backend developer is all about learning these technologies and then using them, not about building them from scratch

Hello Namanh, I have been following you on youtube for long time and really learning from it. The Content is amazing. But I noticed that you'r very inconsistent on YTB and didn't found on IG and FB. May be you are swamped with work. I want to work in your team and would to like to help you as social media manger. Please let me know you are available to talk. Thanks again.
