Welcome to Part 3 of HCC on the PCT! In this video my son and I continue our journey on the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon, USA beginning at Crater Lake. I have finally returned home and will be releasing the rest of our journey weekly! We started hiking on June 26th and this video covers days 18 and 19 (July13th-14th). Jason, you have to realize how lucky you are to have a healthy, active, intelligent, attentive, and loving father who actually chooses to spend weeks at a time alone with his son. My father was a lying, selfish, immature, unstable asshole who made himself feel big and strong by beating the shit out of his kids. You and your father have a strong, loving father-son bond that should exist between all fathers and sons. It's warms my heart to see how close the two of you are. It doesn't get better than this. You won the lottery dude.

Hey, question. Why are most good tents floor less. I see you and other using various different tents with no floor. That is very disconcerting. I would need a floor or one man uses a "rug" looks like it's woven reeds. Thanks for your help. Also I hope all is OK with yalls family!

Thanks for the question! I prefer to use tents with a floor whenever there isn't snow. I don't like bugs and critters crawling in my tent! However, in winter I prefer a floor less tent for a couple reasons. First, it is hard not to burn a hole in the floor while using a wood stove. Secondly, all the snow you inevitably track inside the tent will melt and pool on the floor which gets everything wet. When there isn't a floor all that water sinks into the snow and its easier to keep things dry. It's ultimately a matter of preference since hot tents are made with and without floors depending on the model.
