Welcome to Part 8 of Hike Camp Climb on the Pacific Crest Trail! In this video my son and I continue our journey on the PCT in Oregon, USA. We start back up just outside of Sisters, Oregon and make our way all the way past Mount Jefferson. We encountered our first nerve-racking thunderstorm high up on a mountain and hiked through rain the next day. Our hike began on June 26th, 2023 and this video covers days 40-42. (August 4th-6th). Left us with a bit of a cliffhanger haha. Hope you guys got down & settled in alright in the dark! This was a really great episode, with all the weather changes and lots of variety in landscapes/scenery too, it was awesome 🌲🌫️🏔️ Also, Jason never fails to make me laugh, you guys are so fun to watch 😂

Watching this one because you covered the section I am planning for my fall section hike. Santiam Pass to Timothy Lake. Loved all the video of trail conditions and terrain. BOWED TREE TRUNK EXPLANATION - Yes, snow will have that effect on young trees when they are very supple. Once the main trunk gets big enough to stay vertical during the snow months they continue to grow straight. Another reason could be the soil slipping during wet months. In your case, given the elevation I would say snow was more responsible than soil slippage but could be both. Thanks for the informative video!

That frog you saw was actually a natterjack toad, they have the tell tale yellow stripe down their backs. Maybe you have another father and son trip up your sleeve for later on, take care

Omg I’ve never seen so many mountain goats in my life😮 How do you go about preventing the risks of being struck by lightning out in the mountains like that? Do you just pray?? lol😅

It is not easy for a young man at Json’s age to eat, sleep outside and walk all day for months with his father. I can’t imagine my brother doing that 😅 I think he has a really round personality.
