The Wild West Extravaganza

The Wild West Extravaganza

3 місяці тому

The Sutton-Taylor feud was one of the deadliest feuds of the Old West. On one side you had the Taylor clan - descendants of Virginian Josiah Taylor, who settled near Cuero in DeWitt County. Tough-as-nails patriarchs Pitkin and Creed, along with their many sons and nephews, formed the backbone of their faction. Their adversaries, initially tied to the nefarious Texas State Police, rally under the name of William E. Sutton and Sheriff Jack Helm. Ambushes, assassinations, and betrayals became the norm, with each party vying for dominance. But who’s side would gunman John Wesley Hardin fight on? Also discussed is John Wesley Hardin’s time on the run, his arrest at the hands of Texas Rangers, and his murder trial. #wildwest #history #western

Lookee here, l like how you bring these Old West stories to life with your vocalization. Usually a narrator sounds pert near like one of them there AI hickey-doos. Me, l'm a fifth generation Texican. My Great-great Grampa West left the Neutral Ground east of the Sabine River in a hurry back in1834. He was only 18 when he came into Mexican Texas. Supposedly he busted a cap in someone's ass there in Louisiana. But there Twernt no law to speak of, l reckon whoever he may have shot. He didn't want to stick around to see iffen they had kith or kin or maybe both. I have commented a few times to ya, now l was made and raised in Harris Co. Just happened to be born in Bocephusville,La.That would be Shreveport to the layman! Enjoy you take on the Wild West Extras. You shore can roll them "r's". I'm here ta tell ya. Good work as always, Josh. I have a challenge to throw down. I'm finding very little info to work with on a subject up this alley. "Sawyer's Fight" in Wyoming, 1865. My great great grandfather was involved, fresh out of the Union Army headed West to catch up with the rest of the family. When they rolled into the fort, a troop was being prepared to go rescue a trail marking party that had been in an ongoing fight a while, bargain a while conflict. After the "rescue" he and the wagons started back for the Walla Walla country. His father had come out in '59, found a spot of land he wanted, won it by wrestling a Native. Most the family rolled out in '62, my G-G grandfather stayed back to fight in the war.

Well done, sir, despite your obvious failure to add the proper DAMN when first mentioned Yankees. You redeemed yourself quite well by self correcting the second time you mentioned the scoundrels. The Florida connection suprised me. My father's people hailed from Polk county where a mob of irate citizens strung up his great grandfather on a mulberry tree over some business about horses. Later a town sprung up around the 'oft used hanging tree and was dubbed Mulberry. His uncle later had the habit of getting drunk and riding his horse through town shooting his six guns off which was fine with the sheriff (his brother).

Man ill always love JWH. I remember when I first read his autobio. My dad gave it to me when I was 15 & i was totally enthralled. Today still, and even more so after this series, I really think his life should be brought to the screen in a real way. He is just the epitome of The old west bad MF outlaw wild man cowboy & plenty of characters have been written that posses all of his qualities. Plenty of high action, high tension & high bravado scenes have been written that mirror tons of events from his actual life (kinda). So hell, where is the JWH version of Young Guns? Was he really that much of a prick that Hollywood doesn't want to pay to portray him? He's such a big name I can't believe he's not out there more

Point of order right off the bat just a few minutes into the video. Union troops never occupied Texas for a primary reason. Because it held no real strategic value to crushing the rebellion. The armies of the Confederacy needed to be defeated, but that was primarily the army of Northern Virginia and also Confederate forces farther west in Tennessee and the Midwest. After all, the war officially came to the end with the surrender of the army of Northern Virginia and Robert E Lee representing the confederacy. In a world of finite resources and men, attempting to occupy the state of Texas would have held no strategic value to ending the war and other than some blockades of coastal areas, what in the world were you going to do with all that scrub, and how would of that have won you the war? Texas was never occupied because it didn't need to be.
