I was diagnosed with ocd when i was 13. I went through a lot of therapy and medication. I took my last pill about a month ago and im 19 now. I don't think anyone can even imagine the pain you have to go through when you have ocd. If you, my unseen friend are reading this comment and you have ocd or you have the same symptoms, i love you, i understand you, and i deeply hope you manage it as soon as possible.

@@joyrut1770 You shouldn't really depend on meds, ssri course takes around a year for a person to stabilize enough to slowly wean off, and hope for the best after that because the chance of anxiety (of any kind, whatever you had before) coming back is around ~36%. But saying that meds don't work for ocd, like the dude in a video said, is simply a lie. They work for me, and many other people I know - most of them never had any ocd comebacks after weaning off the meds.

Nicely explained. I have OCD, and I have a long way to go, but whatever improvements I've brought in my life, is all because of will power. We need to have faith in ourselves, we need to be confident and we must remember that we can't let OCD take control. Will power is everything. We will have to find the strength to fight it. The strength, the power all lie within us, we have to train our minds to not get carried away by those disturbing thoughts. We are not alone, there are thousands of people affected by OCD. Everyone's fighting their own battles. We just need to have faith that everything's going to be okay.😊

Lol same it's because (too gory to say so if you want you can click read more:) Because for me it's like a voice that told me to do things or it would somehow kill my family or me. At first I never believed it when I first got it 10 years ago but it would then make my brain feel like it was emitting some next dark waves. Eventually it became kind of like a psychopath and forced me to imagine my family dying by exactly what it says. I used to watch a lot of gory and twisted scenes or anime to get stronger mentally, but I didn't know my OCD voice would become so disturbing. For example, it would tell me to imagine my family being killed by a trap in the movie "saw", then the killer disects their organs and puts it on a plate and decapitated them and put nails on their mouths to make them all smile very creepy like, and then puts them in an oven. I used to cry everyday from this because I love my family so much, but it tells me to imagine this to save them. It's so cruel... it makes me imagine the sounds, the screaming, and I can't take it... I've gotten used to seeing things in darker subjects but I can never get over something like that happening to my loved ones. I feel like it's twisted personality is affecting me... like I'm turning into him overtime... but at least I get mood swings now so when I'm with my family I'm happy. But darn OCD I used to be such a kind guy and now it just makes me say "damn you" to it and I'm always angry. Dammit Edit: lol sorry I vented too much

Panic attacks are really scary but i am working on my will power with just homeopathy medicines and meditation. Wish everyone around the world all the best who are suffering with such situations which our society take as joke only. Stay strong guys!

Thank you so so much for this. I’ve been struggling with OCD since my earliest memories around 6 years old. It’s gotten progressively worse over the years. There’s been so many times when I’ve resorted to self harm especially recently (but I’m finally 3 weeks clean!) and I just feel like giving up on life completely. I’m grateful my boyfriend he is so supportive and cares, but I know it stresses him out and I feel like such a burden at times. I will not give up!! I will stay here on this earth and I will keep trying, I’m going to do my best to fight this illness and continue down the journey of improving my mental health. I’ve got this, YOU’VE GOT THIS!💖

It will go out, mind is your weapon, negative thoughts replace with positive thoughts. When you provoking negative your thoughts it will come back even strongly. Thoughts will come and go, take positive out of it.

Thank you for this video so much! I cannot stress enough how important this was and your story was so amazing to hear. I have suffered with OCD since I was in elementary school and I'm now 19 . It's gotten actually worse recently but yesterday I felt so much like my happy self. Like when I was able to think without OCD making me feel like I'm. It even alive anymore. I've always had it since I can remember but just recently it will get so bad and then I get severely depressed but I had a good day yesterday and it reminded me that I can be happy and it's worth fighting! Now I know there's a way out. I have a hard time because I've searched and searched and I have a specific OCD fear that I can't find anyone else to have an answer to which is a fear of possession. I have severe scrupulosity or religious OCD and it's tough cause I can't really find out if I am and then I start to physically feel it happening and I convince myself I'm not here and it gets so real I begin to disociate and feel like someone is taking me over. But I know it's my mind because nothing does happen bad I just feel not ok. But even feeling that way sucks I guess I have to just stop giving into the fears and compulsions and wait it out knowing God has me protected and I'm just convincing myself I'm not good but I will be fine. I gotta keep at it. I can do this and because of your story and others I know that I can be happy one day. I canc start now

Do something you love. If you have anything to focus on, find it. My OCD was ridiculous it was all over the spectrum but i found peace through god. I started to read the bilbe and use it as my code of conduct and everything started to make sense. Trust I was never religious to began with but i found peace through it.

Emily... I'm 62. Had it since 8 years old. 54 years of OCD. Trust me... exposure therapy works. You WILL make a breakthrough and get you OCD under control. You can't cure it but you can prevent it from controlling you. Exposure therapy enables you to lead a normal life and relegates OCD to a minor issue.

A brilliant talk, very well spoken, very strong in painting pictures of various situations. I have OCD and I've known about it only for a few years, even though it started when I was a child. Nobody paid any mind to my little "ticks", thinking it was just a kid being a bit weird. Well, things got bad. Really bad. I had problems from going to work to actually breathing regularly for years. When I learned about OCD, I started doing research. I found a wonderful tutorial on what you can do to help treat your OCD and I got so much better. Today almost all of my fearful thoughts are gone. All but one. There is this one thing that keeps haunting me and just won't go away. The tricky thing about this fear is, it is very specific and it's not really farfetched. Now, I don't have your typical contamination fear, which would be to just be afraid of all kinds of germs and especially of the really severe illnesses out there. I don't have that. I don't fear that I might get HIV in the most unlikely situations, or stuff like that. Or that someone might bring something like meningitis to my house. Nothing like that. My big fear is very simply coming down with a cold. It terrifies me just to think of it and here's why: I suffer from severe allergies that get worse during the cold season no matter what I do (central heating is my lung's enemy). And even during summer my lung and nose are not as healthy as other people's. So, not exactly good from the beginning, getting worse in winter. If I then catch a cold, not only will I get swelling to the point where it's really difficult to breathe, but the moment my body goes back into auto-immune mode, the real horror begins. My throat gets extremely slimy and I get very, very bad coughing fits. Before my allergies were found to be this severe, my doctor had me go test for whooping cough, that's how bad I usually get. And it continues for months. It will not go away before at least two months, but three is more likely, really. So, I get this from a little cold. I hope it's understandable that it freaks me out. So I do everything to prevent getting colds. I wash my hands a lot, people have to wash their hands before touching things in my room. I never wear clothes that I was out with at home. I always shower before sitting down at my table or on my sofa. I know that it's not healthy to do these things. I also feel that the issue is stressing me out a lot, because I worry about it a lot during the day, but there's just nothing I can do, because I know that if I'm not careful, I might catch that cold and it will torment me for months and that's even more exhausting. I really don't know what to do about this situation. If anyone has experience with something like this, I'm grateful for any advise, or story related to this. I know I'm overdoing it and I hate how scared I am of nothing but a little cold, stressing over it so much that it honestly wears me out. But the violent coughing, the short breath, the problems when talking... it's just so horrible that I think that I'll do anything to avoid it. Medication doesn't really help, so I just really suffer when it happens. It's extremely awful, so I work a lot to avoid it, even though it's not 100% possible, of course. Again, any thoughts on this are welcome.
