Season finale with only round about 60 beavers ?!? im at Cycle 49 on a Hardcore Mode Mountain Range Map with almost 200 working Beavers and 100 Robots and im not even close to saying the Colonie is finished ?!?

please dont end it yet. if you need ideas for goal to help continue you could: see how high you can get the wellbeing points, turn the whole map green and farmable, unlock and build the most expensive building, make two waring colonies, get 1k all materials (food, water, gears, logs, planks, ect), other ideas made by other people in this comment thread

Hardmode will 100% give you all the poo water your heart desires. It hit me with a badtide right after a drought and nearly wiped my colony out.

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one would love to see Matt attempt a "Green Map Challenge". Every inch of the map would need to be farmable and energy production would have to exceed consumption at all times. There could even be a flavor of the challenge where gravity batteries are allowed.

Hi Matt, I started playing Timberborn because of you. Got totally hooked. For a challenge, the map with the islands is great as it requires a change of strategy dues to the lack of solid land and loads of water. Super fun! Looking forward to season 8.

the 2 wide power wheels are misleading: the power is based on flow split between both tiles. ie 1.0 flow and 1.0 flow would make 270, but a total flow of 2.0 in one tile would make 120 for compact wheels for 1/3 the area and like 1/6 cost. if you can get the flow right the compact wheels are 50% more efficent than the larger ones. since you worked with water i think you'll be interested in manipulating flow vs volume. i won't give you the details, but here's a hint: water acts funny when falling on blocks

Oh, hard mode can certainly be brutal- and bad-tides do come more often. That has my vote for next season! In fact, you can customize the length of droughts/bad-tides, likelihood, etc! ...just don't go too crazy with it. I learned the hard way with a 30 day drought within the first cycle....

Yaknow. I think at the end of every season, he should collat all his intros into one super long song.

When you do your future seasons, you should put your aesthetics in places that cover the places they sleep. That way, they'll fill their needs bars the entire time they're sleeping.

The best place to put aesthetic items is on the roofs of or next to the housing. They affect any building that has even 1 square overlapping with their AOE, and any beavers inside fill up the meter while inside. The best thing to do is to stack housing and put the aesthetic items on the roof, as it also has an unlimited up/down AOE range. So 5 houses stacked on top of each other with a 1x1 roof on top will have every beaver recharge to full for the Roof aesthetic as they sleep every night. Placed on the edge, the AOE can apply to a 2nd, stack of houses. Place a 3rd and 4th stack back to back with the first 2, and you have 4 corner tiles where you clan place 4 items with a range of 1 which will affect all 4 stacks of houses. Thus a single 1x1 roof, shrub, and lantern, as well as any 4th item of your choice can affect all 4 stacks of houses, and you have a full 12 tiles where you can place a single 2x2 or higher range items to affect all 4 stacks of houses as well. Of course, you have to use platforms and stairs a plenty to have your beavers be able to actually reach most of the houses.

It'd be great to continue this season! You could go crazy dense and build workplaces and homes in skyscrapers, bridges connecting them like skywalks, or do a really intricate waterworks to make the whole area green. You've just gotten to the point where you aren't only surviving, and now you get to be creative with it

I´d say for the next season, choose a map with the water sources near the map edge. That way, when you got all the badwatersprings closed (one used to have infinite energy and badwater for pumping, going into a self dug river off the map behind it), you can just make overflowgates, that you only need to manage, when the badwater comes, so that it´s nothing more, than a drought for you. Then go to your natural wateroutlets of the map and raise the water level with long dams to your colony´s height. Like see, how large a colony can get, until the frames start to drop. My experience is, that at about 400+ beavers, gamespeed3 laggs a lot and at 600+ beavers, speed2 is going to be hard to maintain XD

I never thought i would be watching and enjoying videos about buildig a beaver colony, this has been a great aeries and was truly enjoyable, great job matt. Also hope that those beavers get happy enough to forget "the incident"

The Beavils! With hit songs such as Lady Beaverna, All You Need Is Logs, and Norwegian Wood (hey, I didn’t need to change that one) If the season has to end, I suggest next season you use a feature which you only used to correct The Incident™. Districts. Better yet, if there’s a mod which lets you have both Folktails and Ironteeth on at the same time, separate them. Will it cause drama? Will they cooperate? Will the Folktails build a damn and farm crops while the Iron Teeth build power generation for industrial revolution?

if you want space saving, you can put a platform on top of the road and build some tyepe of decoration on it, and the beaver will still be able to build it and because you can build it right on top of a cross road, it will be more efficient

The lack of bad tides reminds me of when I bought Madden NFL 93 for SNES. One of the "big updates" was players getting injured and taken off by ambulances. It happened the first game or two after I got it, and then never happened again.

hey just a suggestion for the next one, when your colony starts getting large sprinkle around small storages for food and water. that way your beavers don't have to go to one section in the midel of the colony to get something to eat and can work longer.

For future colonies, to be space efficient what I do for the architectural items I build platforms above the path, allowing for some shading and well being without having to sacrifice farmland.

If you are set on doing a new series/map, I would highly recommend the Thousand Islands map. It's a real challenge during the Bad Tide and it's also quite spread out so getting resources can be a pain in the mid-game. Definitely worth a go. I almost lost my collony to a two day Bad Tide because I was so unprepared.

I know this is the finale. But, for your next season, you can build platforms over the top of your paths and build statues and shrubs and lights on top of the platform. Then every beaver that walks under it gets the bonus.

If you do another series, definitely look into Mods. Definitely go for ones like Ladders and Vertical power shafts. And work towards a very vertical colony with lots of things stacked on top of each other where you have bots do all the work.

I have a challenge that can only be done by a real engineer and with the Iron Teeth. Start a colony, get it to the point that they build the beaver bots to the point that can do all the jobs, pause the breeding pods to the point that the beavers die off and the bots finish the map, and just as they finish, turn the pods back on and turn the bot factories off to build the beaver population up and they take the jobs over.
