Well that's a shame Nadal slowed down in the 4th set. Back then it was best of five sets but now it is best of three and Nadal never end of winning the Miami open in his career one of the most prestigious titles he never won. Perhaps 2005 was his real chance of winning it he was the better player on the day in 2005 final. Maybe if it was best of 3 sets he would of had enough energy to close the match out

@abhi reddy abhi reddy But Federer's game isn't centered around his athleticism but rather his shot making. Federer loses a lot to tstsipas and Dinitrov because he is a massive choker and makes a lot of unforced errors. He doesn't play clutch as much as Nadal or Djokovic.
@prateek752
@prateek752 4 роки тому
@abhi reddy lol calling Nadal a baseline basher. Nice try. Dude they all have to be athletic in some way. That's why they are athletes literally. But my point is Federer hasn't built his game around his athleticism. The central pillar of his game is about making ability. And to think Nadal is a baseline basher. Do you mean to say Nadal never approaches the net? If you think so just watch the USO 2019 again. You can't be a goat by playing just from the baseline. Federer had even admitted that Nadal is a better trick short player than him recently. And Nadal didn't choke on those matches. It just happened that the opponent played better. Nadal did everything he could. Luck went sideways for him on those days. That is unlike Federer who has lost matches when having CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS. Losing break in the final set isn't the same as not converting CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS. And Federer has happened to have done that not just once, but at least four times. That isn't too day Nadal hasn't choked. But it just so happens that Federer has choked more often and more spectacularly.
@user-cy6xl3vd3f
@user-cy6xl3vd3f 2 роки тому
@@prateek752 Federer loses to dimitrov and tsitsipas because he is 10 and 17 years older than each of them. Also athleticism does matter way more than in 2005, because now the surfaces are slow as heck (=longer rallies, defensive tennis). So ofc grand pa Federer who is way past his physical prime is gonna struggle against younger players. Also the loss against dimitrov at the USO 2019 is the only one of his entire career, and he was gonna retire for injury. And it still went to 5 sets. Tells a lot about the overall level difference between both guys.

I used to think that Federer deserved the GOAT label because he raised the bar after the Sampras era. But having watched this highlight reel, and the first match these two played in the 3rd round a year earlier, I feel that Federer may have raised the bar a bit to get to number one but Nadal forced the sport to climb another rung. 17 and 18 years old and simply demanding that everyone play hard every point or lose. para los espectadores era hermoso ver estos match a 5 sets, pero la verdad que para los jugadores podía llegar a ser un sufrimiento, Nadal aunque obviamente era chico, los últimos puntos ya estaba muerto, prefiero seguir viendo finales a 3 sets, que ver a mi jugador favorito jugar una final a 5 set, y retirarse los dos siguientes master 1000, porque encima hay master que termina uno y ya empieza el otro

Watching now when Federer has lost all these Grand slam finals and recently losing 2 match points against Djokovic, feeling bad for him but he had his share of luck, I mean he was down and out 1-4 in the 3rd set and end up winning.

Atp why don’t u show what really happened in that match? I’ll be more specific : 3rd set rafa up 4-3 ,roger on the serve down 0-30, u wanna show that missed call? This might have easily cost rafa a masters win in Miami...
@HBK492

Yes. Back then there was no hawkeye. Rafa could have won if it wasn't for that. This is especially sad since he still haven't won Miami masters.
@guillezorro

What really happened was that Nadal was two sets up and 4-1 up in the 3rd. I agree that that was a decisive call that could very well have affected the outcome, but at the end of the day, he's only got himself to blame for squandering the match
